Colin Hoernig
I am using this guide: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11339 During the installation of osx86 10.4.6 (JAS), I get stuck at the installation screen where I have to choose the disk. I go to disk utility and it only sees the DVD drive. When I boot up in Windows XP I can see the disk and access it, it is set as Fat32 Logical. I also tried it as Fat32 Primary and the same thing happens. Heres my specs: I've tried making new partitions and stuff 5 or 6 times, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :-). Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25384-disk-utility-more-problems/ Share on other sites

firebush05
Ah, well, I learn something new everyday. Thanks. Use your SATA drive on PATA ports. That is, if you have PATA ports. My motherboard has 2 red SATA ports, and 2 black PATA ports (they look identical). totokan
Err... PATA is in no way compatible with SATA without an adaptor. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25384-disk-utility-more-problems/#findComment-172028 Share on other sites
Rammjet
Use your SATA drive on PATA ports. That is, if you have PATA ports. My motherboard has 2 red SATA ports, and 2 black PATA ports (they look identical). Those are all SATA ports. The red signifies primary and black secondary for setting up a raid. A PATA port is 2 rows of 20 pins - it is a wide connector. The black sata ports on my board run the disk as if it were a PATA drive.
