themacmeister
[EDIT] never mind - my old SATA drive was FAULTY. new drive works fine! Hi all, my generic PCI SATA card (Si 3512 based) is running about 1/4 the speed of PATA port. Someone mentioned a jumper setting on their 3512 Buffalo card, for external storage (non-boot). This is what I want to use mine as. Unfortunately, port 1 of this two port card is damaged, so I am forced to use Port 2. I have added vendor/dev ID's to AppleVIAATA.kext info.plist, but with no change. Added drive is 1TB, formatted to HFS+ Journalled + MBR. Is that OK? Any help at all appreciated, as I have many spare SATA drives, not many IDE drives (even if the second IDE port happens to work). I have an SIS 651 based mobo, so I should be happy the darn thing works at all :-) Cheers, themacmeister
themacmeister
I believe you can boot directly, just select SCSI in the BIOS!!!
