AC'97 Modem Driver

I have a zv5000 everything is working except sleep and the modem. I have an ATI AC'97 modem vendor id:1002 device id:434D. I can't seem to find anything about modems anywhere on these forums. Many of my errors have been fixed by replacing old kexts. I run 10.4.6 but have a complete set of 10.4.5 extensions (they have been so useful).

What extensions does OS X rely on for modems? I have found AppleI2SModemfamily.kext and maybe AppleI2S.kext is related. I will try the 10.4.5 versions, but if anyone has any experience i would appreciate it.

OSX only has drivers for its own internal modem which uses a weird serial bus. Modifying kexts will not help. External USB modems are the way to go.

Sleep is a universal problem. Going to sleep usually works, but waking from sleep is a problem. I know of no solutions.

I use a creative external modem connecting via serial port, and under modems I select the GV Flex/V.90..

if you have an external modem connected and its detected go through all the modems in th elist until you get one that works fine thats what I did anyhow
