Hi folks,

I´m getting the "still waiting root device" messenge when I try to boot Mac OS 10.4.6. I read everything related with this messenge in the forum, but nothing works for me.

Asus A8N-E w/ chipset NVidia 4 Ultra

Sata 250 gb Western Digital as First HD Sata

Samsung DVD-RW (turn of)

Creative CD-RW (Secundary Slave IDE)

DVD image Goatsecx (JaZ doesn't reconize my Sata HD)

Here´s the messenge I got:

I try everything, incluind change IDE device between Primary / Secundary, Master / Slave. I realize that when the Primary and Secundary Master IDE is turn off (with no device on), the "root" messenge appears after the "AppleNVIDIAnForceATA" messenge. If I turn on de Samsung DVD-RW as Primary or Secundary Master, the "root" messenge appears after "itunes" messenge, without "AppleNVIDIAnForceATA" messenge.

Anyone was any ideia whats happening?!?!

Hi DJ~ëX,

I gave up with SATA for OSX86 and I did install on a 10 Go, I didn't find another solution.

If you have an old one try it .

Good luck,

I'm convinced it is a nForce4 thing... My OS X 10.4.6 JaS install runs great in VMWare, but won't boot native. I've removed every other drive, and tried every M/S/CS jumper setting. I still get hung on appleNVIDIAnForceATA every time I boot.

AMD A64 X2 3800+

ASUS A8N SLI Premium

Seagate 30Gig PATA IDE Drive

nVidia 7800GT

If you get it figured out, I'd love to know the fix.

Id probally blame it on the chipset too, seen as apple use intel cpus and the chipsets.

Almost there!!!!

I´ve downloaded the new JaZ 10.4.7 and install it! What a nice surprise! First one which works with my motherboard (asus A8N-E w/ nVidia 4 Ultra chipset) and my SATA HD.

It's everything perfect! It boots after install and I use MAC OS X, but when I reboot for the first time or shutdown, I get the same "Waiting for the root device" problem again!!!! ;)

I cant understand why! If I install and already got into the OS, and used, why when I try to used for the second time it gets de "root device" messenge?

Anyone pleaasssee?!?!

Thanks!
