PudgyChicken
Hello, I'm new to the entire Hackintosh scene, so bear with me if I appear to be a little dull. I just installed OSX 10.6.3 from Hazard's 10.6.2-10.6.3 dvd. Well I wouldn't say "just," as this is probably my fifth try to get OSX working. The issue is that when I boot, the Apple logo and little circle-pinwheel-loading thing will flash up momentarily, then disappear. I've tried to boot with the -v flag, what happens is it loads tons of kexts, many of which I've noticed are GPU drivers, and then after it goes through all the kexts, the damn thing reboots. I'm wondering if there's some way to make it work without reinstalling OSX using a different DVD, cause I'm almost out... System Specs: Intel Core i7 980X ASUS Rampage III Extreme GTX 480 12GB Corsair Dominator GT (only 4GB until I get OSX installed) 1x OCZ Vertex 2 60GB (Windows boot) 2x WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA III RAID0 (Windows Storage) 2x WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA II (Other OS's) 1x BR drive 1x DVD drive Corsair Hydro H50 Creative X-fi Titanium HD Coolermaster HAF 932 I appreciate any help you can give me! PudgyChicken P.S. I read the sticky on installing OSX with GTX 480s, and tried installing like he mentioned, but it didn't work. This time around, the only things I added in customization were Chameleon_RC3_PCEFI_10.5, NVEnabler, and NVInject. thenk
Hey, I've got a similar problem, however it happens on the actual installer itself. I've tried 10.6, 10.6.3 retail and some other ones I won't mention (which failed even worse). Basically if I set verbose mode, it loads tons of kexts then flashes the apple screen and resets. I've tried with -x -v -f etc and multiple combinations. At one point it said: ATI driver POSTed, reading VBIOS legacy. I'm not sure exactly what's wrong but I've not been able to find anyone else with a similar issue in all my searching I've got an ATI card however, and you have an NVIDIA. So perhaps it's not VGA related? PudgyChicken
To get the installer running correctly, I had to run busratio=20 cpus=1 fsb=133, maybe that'll work for you as well? thenk
Perhaps, I'll give it a shot soon. Seems like the i7 Quads are kinda troublesome with OS X - or at least the ones you get from the PC shop. I'd imagine the ones that come in Macs work perfectly =) Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/251129-osx-1063-hazard-install-reboot-loop-wgtx-480/#findComment-1653271 Share on other sites
PudgyChicken
It wouldn't surprise me if the i7 hexes like mine were unsupported. However from what I've read, the 980X at least will work. Though I'm pretty sure this is just a gpu driver related issue... PudgyChicken
Well by the clever use of my laptop and webcam, I managed to catch the last text that comes up before the system crashes: Loaded HFS+ file: [system/Library/Extensions/THSafetyNet (screen is cut off here >.>) No DSDT found, using 0 as uid value. efi_inject_get_devprep_strings NULL trying stringdata Loaded HFS+ file: [Extra/sabios.plst] 1010 bytes from 4253430 Patched DMI Table No DSDT replacement found. Leaving ACPI data as is Starting Darwin x86_64 Then the system just crashes... Perhaps that sheds some light on my issue? thenk
I've got the same problem - at least, it says: No DSDT found, using 0 as uid value. If I have a USB HDD plugged in at this point I also get: efi_inject_get_devprep_strings NULL trying stringdata Then: Patched DMI Table No DSDT replacement found. Leaving ACPI data as is Starting Darwin x86_64 Then it flashes a grey apple screen and reboots. I tried adding the busratio=12 to my boot flags, and it managed to display something - some messed up stuff on the internal screen, a line of text that was illegible behind the coloured static. alphaK
Download ##### burn to CD and boot from there to get access to installation. You might want to boot -v (verbose) to see whats giving you the errors. I made installation by booting from ##### + 8GB USB Flash Drive (which has 10.6) and booted with success! Another consider is to make sure you set up your BIOS. Your ##### cd can be boot over and over again if you messed up your installation. eXcalibre
try booting in x86 mode instead of x64....maybe that will help narrow down the problem Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/251129-osx-1063-hazard-install-reboot-loop-wgtx-480/#findComment-1653507 Share on other sites
PudgyChicken
Booting in 32-bit mode didn't work, neither did using the legacy kernel, as I read somewhere that it works with the 980x. Anybody have any ideas? alphaK
You should remove unnecessary hardwares. Have only Motherboard, CPU, Video Card, 4Gb Ram, Hard Drive. Too much hardwares you got can also crash. Try considering bios settings also. Try have these settings in bios: Sata configure as = ACHI C1E Support = Enabled Execute Disable Bit = Enabled Intel SpeedStep Tech = Disabled ACPI 2.0 Support = Enabled ACPI APIC Support = Enabled Get yourself 10.6 snow leopard instead of updated one. Could also be causing the crashes. Boot as -x -v cpus=1 This error you got is just like mine! Instead of using Snow Leopard dvd, I had to buy 8GB USB Flash Drive and used it! Everytime I used Sata/IDE DVD Snow Leopard, I just get circle wheel. End of story. Usually the newer iX series of processors from Intel have trouble getting Hackintosh installed on them because their owners forget to disable the Hyperthreading in the BIOS. If you did already and still have issues, I guess you can try to install Leopard instead. Good luck! PudgyChicken
Unfortunately I do not own an 8GB flash drive. Would it be possible for me to create an 8GB partition on a HDD, format it with OSX Journaled, and extract the DMG to it, then add a /boot flag? Hypothetically that would show up in ##### I think... I've been searching through Demonoid and the best number of seeders I can find is 6 on a SnowLeopard 10a432, what about the iATKOS S3 V2? From what I've seen, it has waaay more install options than Hazard's, including quite a few bootloaders and kernels that may work better. Thanks for all the advice so far! pgb64
Hey this may help, In windows use transmac or macdrive to access your OSX HDD. Remove any graphics injectors. in your S/L/E directory remove these kexts. NVDANV50HAL.kext, NVDANV40HAL.kext, NVDAResman.kext. and place them in your MAC desktop folder. It worked for me with Nvidia chipset / AMD CPU. ZOTEC GTX 460 1GB. Boot with cpus=1 maxmem=4096 busratio= whatever your busratio is -x -v. I hope that works for you. alphaK
Yes its possible to create HDD and use it for making installation. Make sure your format should be FAT32 if you are using windows for making installation. Use TransMac to copy the files by Format > Format with Image File. No don't use iATKOS, just get SnowLeopard 10a432 file. Create your own boot is the best for compatibility. Of course you will have issues in some case. But most case of making your own gives you more ideas on configuring your system. More knowledge ! But if you are using ##### cd to boot up the 8gb HDD partitioned snow leopard, then you do not need to create boot flag on the 8gb hdd. If you are not using ##### cd to boot up but 8GB HDD snow leopard with boot flag files in, make sure you put the right kext files in the Extra/Extensions folder. You will need to play with the kexts in extra/extensions folder until you get it right if you are booting from 8gb hdd. I say less headache if you use ##### Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/251129-osx-1063-hazard-install-reboot-loop-wgtx-480/#findComment-1656868 Share on other sites
PudgyChicken
Well I finally finished downloading a vanilla OSX 10.6.0 DMG, but I can't find out how to format the DMG to my 10GB FAT32 partition with TransMac. Can anybody give me a step by step guide? Never mind- I had to change the settings to allow me to read/write to the drive in order to format it from the DMG. Gringo Vermelho
the only things I added in customization were Chameleon_RC3_PCEFI_10.5, NVEnabler, and NVInject. Do not install more than one injector at the same time, and when installing with a GTX 480 (or any other Fermi card) do not install any injector at all. The OS X nvidia drivers don't support Fermi cards, and you will not be able to boot. Once you're up and running you need to update to 10.6.7 and install the Quadro 4000 drivers from nvidia. Then upgrade to Chameleon 2.0 RC5 and set GraphicsEnabler=y in your /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist.
