Krishna21
Okay..do the following. 1) Stop making several threads; spamming doesn't help.. 2) Download ##### from TonyMacX86. Burn it to a DVD-RW and use it as a boot cd to boot OS X. 3) Follow the instructions from the ##### guide on TonyMacx86 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/247908-106-hangs-on-this/#findComment-1640749 Share on other sites
xdanisx
I posted 2 different errors. I'm trying both 10.6 retail and 10.6.6i by hazard. I actually forgot about #####. Might try it right now, but are there any kexts that could be causing the error? Also, could it be that I have more than 1 GPU and more than 6GB of RAM? Or maybe that my CPU is OC'd? Gringo Vermelho
RAM: It can depend on which kernel extensions you're using. Some seem to cause kernel panics when you go above x gigabytes of RAM. This happens most frequently with older kernel extensions that have been modified by someone in the community. You can experiment with this by using the maxmem bootflag. Boot with maxmem=2048 (for example) and the OS only sees 2 GB RAM. Very useful for troubleshooting. GPU: Pay a visit to the fermi thread to make sure, but beware of outdated and obsolete files and info, especially the stuff in the first post. There is no need to mess up your system with patched stuff if you can get the 470 working with unmodified files. Read further inside the thread for more current information: http://www.insanelym...howtopic=214219 Past 10.6.5 you should be able to install the latest drivers from nvidia + the latest version of Chameleon and have graphics fully working with GraphicsEnabler=y in /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist. Many users are still reporting strange issues with fermi-based cards though. Read and then read some more. Type "Fermi" in the search box and see what you can come up with. xdanisx
Thanks. I managed getting 10.6.6i by hazard installed without sound or lan working (not a surprise). I have Chameleon 2 RC4 as my boot loader, but how can I update that to rc5? Do I just install rc5 and it will over right rc4? I'm looking for audio and lan kexts for my board right now, but incase someone knows which one's I need please post. I'm also planning on making a guide for EVGA SLI LE users as it seems not many people can get SL working with this board. It's a bit of a hit or miss I guess. xdanisx
OK, so I beleive that I found the right kexts. Anyways, I followed this guide and now I can't boot up. I beleive it installed rc5 for me, but booting with verbose (even setting busratio-21 and -x) shuts down my computer. It says something like "It is now safe to turn off your computer" for half a second. That's it. What now? I didn't even get to install the lan/audio kexts because osxtools (or whatever) wouldn't install them for some reason). xdanisx
OK Update: I did a complete reinstall of SL. First I used rc5 as my bootloader, but it doesn't work. Rc4, however, works like a pro. I guess rc5 just doesn't work with my board. Also, sound randomly works now without adding any kexts...
