My touchpad stopped working even under win7 after osx86 installation!

Hi everyone,

I've installed iatkos s3 on my sony vaio fz21m laptop.

Everything has gone ok, even internal touchpad and keyboard (sometimes) work!

but, after I rebooted under my windows 7 installation I discovered that my touchpad stopped to work! Now it doesn't work in both os(es) (win7 and snow leopard)

I tried (under win7) to reinstall drivers and set the BIOS to default values but nothing changed...

What's the problem??? Hardware? bios? software? driver??? uuid?? help!!

Thanks

Sure it can be, but I think (hope) that this is not the case.

Now I remember that it happened after I installed the iwifi package (for 4965agn... I know that it couldn't work, but I tried), that I had to remove for causing kernel panics...

Could it be correlated?

no clue, when i see 3945 and 4965, i immediately go to ebay and buy a 1390 and a 1395... all my laptops have these wireless cards and i have a bunch of 3945 and 4965 laying around in my apartment...

anyways, try using a USB mouse for now ;)

I think the relationship is causal  Originally, I installed the wrong driver for my onboard ethernet ports and I couldn't connect to the internet. Then I couldn't connect to the internet with Windows either. The reason was that the port wasn't released when I rebooted to Windows. My first temp solution was to turn the machine completely off including the switch on the back of the computer, but not so far as to clear Cmos, and wait 30 seconds. That fixed the problem for Windows, the port was now free. I used Lnx2Mac driver to fix SL. (I was worried if I cleared Cmos that a setting in Bios such as AHCI or HPET would be reset to the default.)

My suggestion is to shutdown the computer completely, including the switch on the back of the computer, or pull the plug and wait a minute. I think that will fix it for Windows. If not, go to Device Manager and uninstall, then reinstall the driver.

So this would fix my problem on the Windows side. But, every time I booted to SL and tried to connect to the internet it would recreate the problem, and I would have to completely shut off the machine to use Windows for the internet. Installing the right driver/kext fixed it for both OS.

It is possible that it just happened that your device went defective at that moment. But I don't trust coincidence that much, so I tend to think your problem was caused by a faulty driver. It's real easy to check if an absolute shutdown will enable the Windows side.

SOLVED

I simply had to clear the ports and bios state (or something similiar) but how?

I unplugged the ac cable and battery (that I usually never take off from my laptop), wait 1 minute, turn the laptop on and... voilà!

....shame on me...! :D

now I'll try to make work my internal keyboards and laptop on osx86... hoping I don't broke something else!

thanks to everyone

PS: do you have some clue for me to do this?

People who have the same kind of computer that you have will often run into the same kinds of problems. So if you do a search in the Search window, using vaio fz21m as your search terms, then the search will return results that are likely relevant to you. The http address at the top of this post is produced by doing the search (screencapture) below. I see a lot more information about your computer for Windows 7 than I do for Hackintosh on Google.

INSTRUCTIONS:

I hope you know how to install kexts (:

if you dont..

boot from DVD, Install like normal until Theres a picture of a Mac OSX disk pointing to a hard drive.

Select customize and then there you go (: Select the ones you need.

For laptop mouse and keyboard select PS2 with trackpad. That works on mostly all the laptops.

idk about your hardware but if you know it.. then select the kexts..

and after you are done continue the installation

hi mulcyber

I forgot that I read the solution for touchpad and bios csmos directly from you!

And, after I've resolved the problem under Windows, keyoboard and touchpad started to work on osx too!!! the only problem left is that the touchpad sensibility is too high and it ignores the settings on the system panel (it influences only the usb mouse sensibility)

Tonight I'll try to study the posts you posted if they work about the touchpad sensibility.

Now the only problems left are about the fully geforce 8400m gt (I've read that there are problems for the internal monitor) and ethernet lan hw supports.

I'll inform you about the progress!

Thanks Again!
