nicedog
I have a USR5421 USB MaxG wireless adapter plugged in. I believe the chip is broadcom BCM4318 My hackintosh shows the following information in System Profiler under "Hardware" -> "USB" "Remote NDIS 802.11 Wireless Adapter" Verion: 0.06 Bus Power (mA): 500 Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec Product ID: 0x011b Serial Nmber: 000000000001 Vendor ID: 0x0baf Does this mean there's a chance that I might be able to use this card? THanks. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24590-us-robotics-usr5421-usb-80211g-wireless-adapter/ Share on other sites
REVENGE
Very interesting. A bit old, but I would like to put more research into this issue. If the device is enumerable [XD] under USB, then could I tell the existing Broadcom driver to work with it? Hmm... Prasys
But its weird , we need to ask someone that has gotten it to work under a mac. From what i heard it does not work , OSX thinks its a ndis driver [we dont have ndiswrapper for OSX yet]. So we might need to make a kext out of it to allow USB Devices Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24590-us-robotics-usr5421-usb-80211g-wireless-adapter/#findComment-243845 Share on other sites
REVENGE
Ye. I'm assuming that if we had the source code to the Broadcom driver, we could add relevant USB communication code and have the thing working right? Hmm... REVENGE
Heh. FreeBSD already has a NDIS wrapper released and bundled. Is it time to patch together a wrapper for OS X? We could contact the FreeBSD NDISulator dev Bill Paul for more info... Prasys
yeah better , thats what I am guessing. If we could get that , then most of the cards would work !
