hystery
Hi there. Had been using Mac for ages, realizing its overpricing (Still like their products, but yet personally) recently decided to build a hackintosh. It was my first try, building a DIY PC and OSx86. But all went fine, that just wanted to share how-to and thank to developers. Here's what I've used: Intel i5 2500 MSI P67A-GD55 MSI N460GTX CYCLONE 1GD5/OC crucial RealSSD 300 64GB Plus, 8GB USB. A: Okay. First of all I made an USB Snow Leopard installer/bootloader: 1. Make 2 partition formatting the drive in GUID, 200MB for the first and the rest for the other. 2. Install Chameleon or your favorite bootloader to the 200MB partition. (You actually can make just 1 solid partition and install both OS and bootloader, but if you separate them you can change both bootloader & OS easily in the future.) 3. Specify your legacy-kernel in the com.apple.boot.plist or simply replace it to make it bootable on Sandy CPU. B: That's it. Now, installation. 1. Boot from the USB. (Do not forget to change boot order in the UEFI or BIOS) 2. Format disk in GUID. If you're keen to have dual boot make 2 partitions. 3. Simply install the Mac OS, and reboot when it's done. C: Now important part, Post-Installation. 1. Install latest combo-update 2. Repeat A.3. 3. Install appropriate drivers (##### from tonymac is the easy one to do this task). 4. Install favorite bootloader, and DO NOT forget to add busratio=29 to eliminate stutters. 5. Reboot and it's done! For me all the drivers are working except audio. Also system info in System Profiler isn't accurate that it needs some investigations. I'm now trying to understand how DSDT is working, though it's tough and so far software drivers are working well enough. So this could be done by all info and app shares provided by those osx86 prodigies. Again thanks so much developers. Hope this can help somebody thinking about SandyBridge+OSx86. Bye! ableami
Hystery, please help. I too bought a P67A-GD55 motherboard and an i5 2500K processer. You did not mention in your post any of the settings you made in the BIOS. I'm trying to follow lifehacker's recipie for creating a Hackintosh using ##### and #####. As best I've been able to figure out so far I set SATA to AHCI, set S3, (HPET is enabled), and set the DVD as first boot device and the blank hard drive to second boot device. It's not working. After booting with ##### I stick in the Mac OS X disk (store bought original). All I get is a white screen with a black apple and the DVD stops spinning. I've tried starting up Mac OS X in safe mode and the disk cranks a lot longer than in non-safe mode but result is the same, white screen, black apple and disk eventually stops spinning. My setup is 1 4GB memory stick, blank 500GB HD, generic DVD reader/writer, Galaxy GeForce 210 512MB/MO PCIe card. So, is there anything you did in CMOS to make this work? I did try with 2 4GB memory sticks installed also but got same result. tonymacx86 says just use 4 GB of memory. The setting I've used is the same as yours, but don't forget to update your BIOS to the latest to get "Let OS control busratio" option in OC menu. Good luck Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/244731-msi-p67a-gd55-usb-installation/#findComment-1633098 Share on other sites
geticus
@hystery Did you tried new mach_kernel for sandy bridge support ? No luck here for the same MB. I'll only get constant reboot loop.
