Gavin Ting
Hi guys, so basically i'm getting ready to build a hackintosh (since my macbook is pretty much reaching the end of it's useful life and is literally falling apart). As a photographer I mostly use Aperture 3, and I'm just starting to move into using Premiere Pro (I would also like to explore using FCP) for videos. After lots of reading and researching, I've come up with the following specs. Any comments? MB: Gigabyte GA-X58-UD3R CPU: i7-950 RAM: OCZ DDR3-1333 Gold 6GB (2GB x 3 Kit) GFX: Palit GeForce GTX 460 Sonic Platinum (1GB GDDR5) HDD: Western Digital Black Caviar 1TB Case: Cooler Master USP 100 Black w/ Side Window PSU: Seasonic M12II 620W These components should allow me to install OS X without too much stress right? Well, get a Corsair Dominator Triple Channel RAM Kit instead of this OCZ junk... Read the user reviews on the Amazon, Newegg and you will know what I'm talking, they aren't good for OCZs... "Sometimes" alittle more money makes a huge difference! Hmm, yea thanks for the suggestion, but where I live, the Dominators are twice the price... Is it really worth that much in performance terms? After reading all those reviews, I see most of the issues are with dead ram showing up, which should not be a problem as I have a 30-day replacement policy at shops here. As I don't really intend to overclock much, this RAM should be okay right?
