Hello all,

I'm pretty new to the hackintosh experience, and just recently built a hackintosh computer. I installed the kalyway install of 10.5.2, but I need to update to 10.5.8 so that I can have the latest safari and itunes. Kalyway 10.5.2 is working 100% fine with my computer, no glitches what so ever(which is somewhat of a blessing from what i've read) I haven't seen any official guides, or anything too promising on how to get this 10.5.8 update done. ANy help would be greatly appreciated. THanks :D

There's Kalyway 10.5.7 or iAtkos boot CD's that have 10.5.8 I think floating around. It's tough updating from a boot CD if you don't know where/what Kexts (Drivers for OS X) are installed since you don't know if the combo update will overwrite your kexts

I haven't seen any official guides, or anything too promising on how to get this 10.5.8 update done.

There is no such thing as "official". The scene is not "run" by anybody. You're on your own with this. Read, research, google, forum search etc etc. You need to know your hardware intimately, and you need to know what makes OS X work on your hardware. Otherwise you'll just break everything.

These might help:

If you just run the update you will surely break your installation. In an attempt to be compatible with everything, Kalyway is patched up the wazoo and will fall like a house of cards when the update replaces all the hacks and patches with original Apple files. Try to get rid of as many hacks and patches as you can before updating. Move stuff to /Extra, learn how to use and configure the Chameleon bootloader.

Know your hardware. Don't be afraid to experiment. Make backups.

Good luck.
