zippy04
Hi, today I build may first Hackintosh from a Samsung NC10. It works very fine. I only have one question. Can I use my normal iTunes account with this Hackintosh ? On my account are 4 (WIN) PC's, 3 iPhone's and 1 iPad registered. I only fear that iTunes will block my account (or something like this) in cause of using a Hackintosh. Thx for your answers Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/243432-use-itunes-account-with-a-hackintosh/ Share on other sites
elcapitan
I have tried a few versions of the sleepenabler.kext, but none of them worked.Found this one today, tested it and works fine ( I am using 64 bit). Cheers! You'll have no problems using your account. I've been using my iTunes account for about 2 years on my hackintosh without any problems. ALL my apps are legit running on iAtkos (CS5, Final Cut Pro, Microsoft Office 2011, iLife, Toast Titanium) so iTunes shouldn't be any problem at all. If you are concerned with iTunes phoning home (sending info to Apple), try Little Snitch. It's an app that intersects an applications connection to the internet unless you give the ok. zippy04
My last questions (for today ;-)) 1.Are there any other security apps which I should use? 2.How can I use 1024x600 resolution? 3.How will it works with updates. I think I can't use normal update way, right? Thx a lot and have a nice weekend Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/243432-use-itunes-account-with-a-hackintosh/#findComment-1622956 Share on other sites

I think I can't use normal update way, right? Thx a lot and have a nice weekend If you mean "security apps" as in anti-virus, anti-malware. From "Macfixit" "Intego Virusbarrier X6: A robust solution that has been available on the Mac for a while. Norton Antivirus: A long-standing and robust Mac AV utility. Though in the past it has been criticized as being bloatware, current versions seem to be fine. Kapersky Antivirus: Another solid solution, which is packaged with some virtualization software suites. Sophos Antivirus: An enterprise-level virus scanner that was just released as a free home version. ClamXav: A free open-source antivirus scanner. It is a front end for the ClamAV scanner. iAntivirus: This is a Mac OS specific antivirus scanner, which does not scan for Windows-based viruses. Avast: Another very popular scanner for Windows, that has a Mac version available. McAfee VirusScan: The longtime Windows-only scanner is also available for OS X. BitDefender: Not as popular as other antivirus solutions. ProtectMac: This is also not a very popular antivirus suite, but it is a solution that should work. Panda Antivirus: I had not heard of this one until recently, but it supports the latest quarantine and malware management features similar to other options. Zebra Scanner: As with Panda, this one is also a little obscure. It is more specific to finding hidden Trojan horses than being an all-around scanner for malware." I use "ClamXav" For answers to questions 2 &3, much more information is needed about hardware specs and installation method. Gringo Vermelho
I use "ClamXav" Me too, except I use the version of ClamAV that's built into Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner. Which I recommend. It has possibly the ugliest icon in the world (a hand-operated vacuum cleaner sucking up a document in an open folder) but it fully makes up for that in functionality. Between this (and AppleJack for extreme emergencies) there's not much else to recommend in the maintenance/security department, not that I know of at least. ...except this: always have a Chameleon boot CD handy. For the other 2 topics I will open a new topic to not confuse this great forum ;-) Thx a lot to all of you z Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/243432-use-itunes-account-with-a-hackintosh/#findComment-1623522 Share on other sites
