Flyinace2000
Any here upgrade a intel mac mini? I am thinking about buying a used Core Solo mini and swapping a Core 2 Duo chip. Any suggestions? Urbz
First off, very easy to open and poke around with, I know, I've tried! Second, we still don't know if it can take advatage of the 64-bit-ness of the C2D chips, so beware if you want to take full advantage of the chip. Third, the SATA drives are slightly more expennsive that ATA drives, so factor that in when upgrading. Fourth, the two sticks of 256mb dont give you much of a performance gain than having one stick of 512, so sell the ram and upgrade with 1 stick of 1GB first, so that you can always go for a second stick whenever you want. Just a few pointers off the top of my head! If you guys have any questions, PM me or post here! -Urby Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24293-upgrading-the-intel-mac-mini/#findComment-326565 Share on other sites

track09
Core Duo is based off the pentium M architecture, while the Core 2 Duo is a complete redesign of x86 architecture. Core 2 Duo is much faster, and should work with the mini's chipset.
