farski
I started a new build in November, and had things basically working really well. I just needed to dial in a few DSDT changes to be done. Then my motherboard started to die, and getting it replaced took way longer than it should have. Anyway, I got a replacement board (exact same model/revision). I installed W7 over my OS X install to run a lot of tests just so I didn't run into another bad board situation. Then I put OS X back on, and set up the boot drive exactly as it was before. Now instead of booting up and working perfectly, almost as soon as I hit enter on the boot selector screen the computer shuts down and all the case fans start going at full speed. It prints out maybe 20-25 lines on the screen in verbose mode, but they're gone before I can actually read anything or notice any errors. The system drive works fine with #####, and I've never run into this problem with a Chameleon installation before. Obviously I've had my share of KPs, but nothing this abrupt or that soon during the boot process. I've tried the most bare-minimum combinations of kext in /E/E and it's the same result. Any ideas? FakeSteez
Did you remember to tweak your bios accordingly?
Gringo Vermelho
Make sure it's running the same BIOS version as the old board was. If it is, then try removing your old DSDT. If you're still using that. /EDIT Hmm, it works fine with #####, missed that part. Reinstall Chameleon manually. If your drive is GUID partitioned, you can use my guide and files from here: http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php/topic,649.0.html
farski
Thanks for the tips. BIOS versions are the same, though with slightly different settings. I had actually gotten around to doing anything meaningful with the DSDT before the old board broke, so I never even had one loaded. I've been trying different forks and install methods of Cham and I think I finally found one that going to work. Not working entirely yet, but at least it's giving me a more meaningful error that I should be able to fix. Thanks again.
