bennyyboi Posted January 9, 2011 Share Posted January 9, 2011 Hey guys, I have searched many forums for a temporary fix for this or someway of eliminating the issue all together but still no luck, the issue is that OS X would just lock up and in the far left hand corner I see a black square expanding slowly, which disables mouse + keyboard so leaves me no choice but to power off and reboot the PC. The methods I've tried are: Removed 'NullCPUPowerManagement.kext' from E/E Set Display Sleep to Never. Updated the drivers for the GPU the retail pkg directly from Nvidia themselves. Went into BIOS and set the PCI-E Clock from 'Auto' to '100MHz' (Default Clock for PCI-E components). (BTW I do have my build DSDT patched). However, the third method has somehow made the random freeze spaced out so it doesn't do it every 10-15 seconds like it use to, I just tested it and it lasted I think just under 2 hours so not bad trying to get to not freeze whatsoever... So if anyone knows a fix or knows a way round this then do please point me in the right direction I'd appreciate a lot! MB ASUS P5QD Turbo CPU Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 RAM 2Gb DDR2 GFX ASUS ENGTS 450 DirectCU DSDT patched, all kexts listed in HCL 10.6.6 for P5QD Turbo installed, installed CUDA drivers from NVIDIA site and tonyMac's patch for nvidia gts450. anyone have ideas how to fix that freezes? Neither the latest nvidia Quadro drivers from nvidia.com nor the nvidia drivers from the MacBookPro/iMac 2011 updates fix this issue for me. For me, usually the freeze happens while browsing the Internet or while doing nothing at all. Most of the time there's nothing in the logs, on rare occasions an "OpenGL Channel Exception" warning. Type 'Fermi Freeze' in the forum search box above for more information. Unless that has changed recently.
