Hey.

Im using a external sound card. Everything works well. But now the sound is really "cracking". It sounds like my computer is not fast enough. But it is.

When i use my onboard sound it works well. But i need the external soundcard for recording (the input from the external soundcard doesnt work very well too)

Also my webcam seems to work only 1 out of 10 (when i plug and unplug it) and often i get a weird "chippunk" sound from the microphone(my voice is seems really fast and pitchy)

My other usb devices seem to work good tough.

Using a asus p5b.

10.6.6 vanilla installation.

Everything else works great.

I have the same USB problem. I use Creative X-MOD USB sound card, which is supported by Mac, and it makes awful noise and sometimes it even stops playback at all ! I guess the ports on the motherboard are wacky in a way, I don't know, what's the problem ? Onboard is fine.

Thanks.

Could either of these problems be related to the sample rate being different between the application's settings and the audio driver's settings (in System Preferences->Sound) i.e. one is at 44.1 khz and the other is at 48 khz???

There is no sample rate given in sound preferences. Only in the Audio Midi utility. Nothing to compare.
