Dell Inspiron 1525 Graphics Help!

Please someone out there help me this is a christmas gift to a family member and i need help with making it work. I have a dell inspiron 1525 with the 1.66ghz core 2 duo processor and have audio and working but Qe/Ci. It says no kext loaded. I used iatkos s3 v2 to install osx. I select the gmax3100 and framebuffer but i get a black screen and wont come back. I also tried another way by using another version of chameleon but it didnt help in fact it made things worse.

 

I also cant get it to update to 10.6.5 but thats not big in importance as is the graphics.

Hey dude insert dsdt.aml in the root of ur partition and try to boot, if it gets to the desktop then

 

1. use screen sleeper solution

 

2. install stock kexts intel gma x3100 kexts along integrated frame buffer kext using kext utility. u fill find them in extensions folder just reinstall them again. thats it and before restaring just run the screen sleeper solution fix again thats all mate.

 

dont forget to place ur dsdt.aml in the root

What do you mean by screen sleeper method? I use sleepenabler but do you know if you have to remove it in order to upgrade?

 

Also what do you mean dsdt.aml i dont know where it would be. I didnt create one.

screen sleeper solution fix is an app its not a kext u can find it everywhere (google is ur best friend), its different from sleepenabler.just delete sleepenabler kext. and foloow the instructions.

generate ur hardware related dsdt and place it in the root of ur partition. just re install those 5 kexts 4 intel gmax3100 kexts along with integrated frame buffer kext. thats it.

 

if ur not able login into ur desktop then just delete the above kexts from ur extension folder save it some where else and then reinstall them

You may not want to reinstall, but you can do a Vanilla install with this laptop. Graphics are supported without any problem.

 

I would google Daily Blogged. It's a blog dedicated to hackintosh on the Dell 1525. Excellent guides, and the post the upgrade instructions for every update usually within a couple of weeks.

 

If it all possible, you want a vanilla install, instead of a distro. Expecially if you spend the $30 dollars and buy the install disk, then you are at least somewhat legal in your install.

Ok i understand the screen sleeper solution and just to be sure with the dsdt, you just download that dsdt on that topic and it will patch?

 

I'm sorry i'm still a newbie to this stuff especially laptop hackintoshes. I have three desktop hackintoshes but i think desktops are the easiest.

ok here u go a newbie guide for generating dsdt, rectifying black screen problem on x3100 ( from windows 7)

 

1. download DSDTSE http://www.kexts.com/view/330-dsdtse_for_w...ista_and_7.html

 

if doesnt allow to download, register.

 

2. download iASL compiler and Windows ACPI tools zip file http://www.acpica.org/downloads/binary_tools.php

 

3. extract both the apps annd copy iasl.exe and overwrite it in the DSDTSE folder

 

4. run DSDTSE

 

5. Extract DSDT

 

6. Compile DSDT thats it

 

check the DSDTSE folder u would find a DSDT.aml file. copy and paste it in the root of the snow leo.

 

7. copy AppleIntelGMAX3100.kext, AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext, AppleIntelGMAX3100GA.plugin, AppleIntelGMAX3100GLDriver.bundle, AppleIntelGMAX3100VADriver.bundle and AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext totally 6 kexts not 5 as previously said, using a macdrive app on win 7 and save at a safe location and delete those 6 kexts from System/library/extensions. restart and try to login into snow leo.

 

8. if everything goes well now from snow leo download kext utility http://www.kexts.com/view/447-kext_utility...ow_leopard.html and extract it to the desktop, install the 6 kexts by dragging and dropping on to the kext utility application and wait till kext utility install all 6 kexts.

 

9. Now most important part install screen sleeper solution fix http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=134510 , after download and extract run sleeper solution fix pkg install it and restart.

 

thats it all done u must abe able to login into snow leopard

 

check for the transparent bar on the top, play a movie etc. but it doesnt show ci/qe on the sytem profiler but 3d effects are working thats it mate.

Did you upgrade to 10.6.6 without problems or any re installations or will i have to reinstall voodoo hda or the graphics drivers again?

well am currently on 10.6.6 on vanilla kernel without any problems. well u need voodoo HDA or need to patch the dsdt in order to enable the stock kexts applehda ( easiest option is to install voodoo HDA with kext utility). well there is no need to install graphics driver again and again. as screen sleep solution fix takes care of it.
