For some reason, my USB seems a little off in Snow Leopard. I can plug in my iPhone and sync/backup, but when I try and upgrade it bails and I have to use a Windows Machine. Also, with my HP Printer/Scanner, I downloaded the latest software, and when I plug it in its detected, but when I try and use it, it says the scanner is in use by something else.

My external Time Machine drive works fine though.

Is there a kext or something I can do to "upgrade" my usb? Right now I installed Windows 7 and dual boot so I can upgrade my iPhone or use my scanner, but I'd like to remove it if possible.

That is a very interesting problem. The best I can say is look in your DSDT. There might be some sort of voltage parameter there. I'm just guessing as I have never heard of anyone having this issue. You could try plugging in something like a light or something else that just runs off the usb 5volts and see if it works right. At least that would confirm your problem. The scanner would not run off the 5 volts so should be unaffected.

Dumb question, but what is the DDST? For my install, I just used the iAtkos 10.6.3 and upgraded from there, no real patching needed.

I'm also new to Hackintosh but have done more reading. I decided that I needed a DSDT.

Your problem sounds kext (driver) related. I think your chances are better if you use an

install method much more current because the drivers will be improved. If you are certain

that these are your only two problems, maybe it fits into 'if it ain't broken, don't fix it', but

not from my perfectionist perspective. However, I found editing the DSDT.aml was about

as primitive as XFree86-Video-Timings-HOWTO by Eric S. Raymond. They have some DSDTs

which are already made, for download, but they have to match CPU, Bios release, version,

etc. so be make sure it matches your motherboard exactly if you download one.

Well, that video was pretty useless.
