amye
I have the following hardware: Motherboard: ASUS P7P55D-E Processor: Core i7 870 Graphics Card: Palit Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 - 2GB Memory: 4GB of ram Hopefully, somebody can help me with this. I currently have windows 7 (64 bit) installed on one drive. But I have disabled that drive and I am installing OS X on another drive with nothing on it. I have changed the settings in the bios to AHCI, S3 and boot device priority. I run ##### GE, insert the snow leopard install dvd 10.6.3, but it gives the following error: BSD process name corresponding to current thread: Unknown Mac OS version: Not yet set Kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 10.5.0: Fri Nov 5 23:20:39 PDT 2010; root: XNU-1504.9.17~1/RELEASE_I386 System uptime in nanoseconds: 0 I have been trying to install this for awhile now, but no success. I also tried it with a different graphics card which is an ATI Radeon HD 5770 - 1GB, but didn't have any luck with that one either. After loading ##### with that one, I just get a blank black screen and my fans just get louder. After a minute or so, the computer just restarts. Maybe, I just don't have the right hardware or I'm missing something. Any suggestions? tdk1007
I'm having the same problem, but different hardware. It's a bit maddening. I'll be sure to check in if I figure out my own computer. I have 8 GB of ram on mine and reduced it to only 4 GB because that's one of the requirements for installation according to tonymacx86. I tried it, but it didn't work for me. I see you have 6 GB. I don't know if you have tried that yet, but just thought I'd let you know. Who knows, it might work for you. It eventually got to a light blue screen, and then the install screen, but my keyboard and mouse stop responding. Hopefully it works out for you! Also make sure your keyboard is USB, i was using a PS/2 keyboard and I realized they haven't been used on apple computers in a decade or so. And I currently only have 4GBs of ram installed. I see, that sucks. I just tried it, but no luck. I don't even get the light blue screen. Oh good, I have a USB keyboard. I'm trying out empire efi and nawcom with my ati card now, but still no luck. I am going to try those with my nvidia card and hopefully I get something going. Hopefully you were able to get past the install screen! If that does not work, then try -v cpus=1 busratio=22 maxmem=2048, or even -v -f cpus=1 busratio=22 maxmem=2048...... I have attached a screenshot of the error. Also, I don't know if this helps any. But right before the error, I did see something that said: ACPI table not found: DSDT.aml No DSDT found, using 0 as uid value ...... I didn't catch all of it since it only lasts a couple of seconds before ending up on that error. But I will try to get a screenshot of it. have you solved it? No, not yet. Gringo Vermelho
None of those messages are error messages, that's a normal, healthy looking verbose output from the Chameleon bootloader. Chameleon looks in /Extra/DSDT.aml for your PCIRoot but there is no DSDT.aml there, so it sets PCIRoot to the default value of 0. You can try booting with PCIRoot=1 though but whether this will help with anything or not depends on other configuration settings on the boot CD, mainly EthernetBuiltIn=y and GraphicsEnabler=y. Visit the VoodooProjects forum and read the Chameleon boot loader documentation for more info. With the nawcom CD, as soon as you 'press any key to continue' it kernel panics straight away? I tried booting with PCIRoot=1 but it still does the same thing. Yes, with the nawcom CD, it kernel panics straight away as soon as I press any key. tdk1007
Hey, So i've still been having problems myself, but I did successful install Snow Leopard by taking another route. I took the drive out of my computer and mounted it to my macbook pro. From there I installed snow leopard off the cd as you would any mac, and just chose the mounted drive as the desination. It worked when I plugged it back into the pc. If you have a way to hook the hard drive up to a mac, then this is the easiest way to go. You can use an external enclosure, or a docking bay like this (I borrowed one from a friend). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817182196 Unfortunately i did this at 2:30am and wasn't reading the directions clearly on how to update to 10.6.4 and now it kernel panics on boot. But now I know its possible and works on my machine.
