chrisono
Hey all, well since im only allowed to post in this forum as of now, i may as well ask here. I have a Asus G73jw laptop running SL 10.6.5 and as of now i only have a couple problems that i need help with (yes i have searched for them as best i can) i have a 460m graphics card and i need help getting it to work (i have it working but video and what not seems way to slow) so i need a proper kext / install guide that definently works with the 460M. the other problem which i am quite sure is related is the random os lockups :S
mathq
Did you try anything to get it work as of now? Did you install any injectors such as NVInject, NVKush, Natit, etc.?
chrisono
yep, unfortuently i have tried everything exept Natit which says it supports 256ms's or less as my card has 1.5gb's i dont know if that would work properly
mathq
Did you try GraphicsEnabler=yes bootflag?
chrisono
GraphicsEnabler=yes and DisplayMode=1920x1080x32 get me working graphics but nothing is recognised mt system profiler as the correct VRAM or anything and if i watch a youtube video and try and do something else video preformance crawls... as it shows i have 0MB's of VRAM when i have 1.5GB's :S
akzidenz
Hey there, Try the Tonymac nVidia drivers - http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/11/upd...r-mac-os-x.html What I did was, install 10.6.5 update, installed this, and then restarted. Which has worked for me - the random lockups - i'm not sure and open for suggestions as I'm experiencing the same...
chrisono
hey there, thanks for the help, what finnaly worked is i installed the nvidia cuda driver and then the tonymac drivers again and now it works, as for the random lockups, they have seemed to stop (except one time) now i have no clue how on earth i fixed this as they only stopped once i compleatly killed my system lol. had to reinstall both windows and osx (learned to stay away from the terminal)

chrisono
ok well im not much of a writer but here goes my tut for the g73jw (i am not responcible if this makes you computer die and turn into a zombie that wants to kill you and eat all the food in your fridge) before i do a tutorial on how to install it i will list my setup: the 2 500gb drive, one is for windows and the other osx, now to get the duel booting working properly i had to take out the windows drive, this is the simplest way to gey chamelion rc5 working that i have found (it was awhile ago and i compleatly froget what one it was so just swap them untill you cant boot into win 7) the only way i could get it installed was using hazards release so get that and burn it (everything after this assumes you have formatted the drive and such) the install will only start if you type busratio=20 when youget to the customize screen select only 10.6.3 (i think it is) and the camelion bootloader. if you select ANYTHING else it wont work. the install will finish fine (now when you restart push esc repetedly untill you can select your boot option) select the rive you put osx onto in my case it was po0, your drive may be different. if it worked you should be able to boot into osx and it will look like {censored}. so install this kext to get your ethernet working build_x64_20100425.zip so what you need to do now is update to 10.6.5 (read the updating info on this forum) next install chamelion rc5, then install the tonymac nvidia update and the cuda drivers which can be found with a google search. then you should have a working install, again im no good at writing so if you have any questions pm me and i wil try to go into bette detail. lder
hi chrisono Tks for the tips. I installed iatkos 10.6.3 + ( -x -v cpu=8 busratio=20) then I restarted busratio=20, I updated w/ combo 10.6.5. I installed 533-AtherosL1cEthernet +WIFI_AR9285 + ##### + nVidia update from tonymacx86 restart and install 10.6.6. Some features were ok. USB2 ok USB3 ok Lan ok WIFI ok bluetooth ok HDMI out ok keybord ok... 1920*1080 ok DVD ok But I am still having problems in others: Card reader no Pad no Audio (I can't find this ALC269). The mic keeps on and max volume all the time. And problems load render in Final Cut Pro - As you can see in the first pic, after loading render even for simple things like dissolve, a warning pop-up appears. Can u tell me where can I take a computer test ok well im not much of a writer but here goes my tut for the g73jw(i am not responcible if this makes you computer die and turn into a zombie that wants to kill you and eat all the food in your fridge) before i do a tutorial on how to install it i will list my setup: the 2 500gb drive, one is for windows and the other osx, now to get the duel booting working properly i had to take out the windows drive, this is the simplest way to gey chamelion rc5 working that i have found (it was awhile ago and i compleatly froget what one it was so just swap them untill you cant boot into win 7) the only way i could get it installed was using hazards release so get that and burn it (everything after this assumes you have formatted the drive and such) the install will only start if you type busratio=20 when youget to the customize screen select only 10.6.3 (i think it is) and the camelion bootloader. if you select ANYTHING else it wont work. the install will finish fine (now when you restart push esc repetedly untill you can select your boot option) select the rive you put osx onto in my case it was po0, your drive may be different. if it worked you should be able to boot into osx and it will look like {censored}. so install this kext to get your ethernet working build_x64_20100425.zip so what you need to do now is update to 10.6.5 (read the updating info on this forum) next install chamelion rc5, then install the tonymac nvidia update and the cuda drivers which can be found with a google search. then you should have a working install, again im no good at writing so if you have any questions pm me and i wil try to go into bette detail. chrisono
i will see if i can post my audio kext, it works out of the box for me, (the fn keys dont work to change the volume though) and the trackpad works as well for me so i will hop into osx and see if i can get the kexts AppleHDA.kext.zip VoodooHDA.kext.zip here are my audio kexts i dont know what kext the trackpad uses if you know i will put my version of it up here as well
AK-87
Hey I have also got the g73jw. Im currently running SL 10.6.5 graphics, ethernet, and wireless works fine. But cant get sound to work, I tried the kexts you posted for the audio, don't seem to work for me. through ##### I tried the voodooHDA 0.2.1 and 0.2.2 kexts, didnt work either. So anyone has any idea why its not working for me? in about this mac >> more info >> Audio (Built In) >> Audio ID: 0 and under Preference Panes >> VoodooHDA >> version 1.0 is it supposed to be version 1.0? I mean shouldn't it show the 0.2.1? Thanks, any help would be appreciated.
chrisono
in about this mac >> more info >> Audio (Built In) >> Audio ID: 0 thats the same info i have, so as of now im stumped as to why yours would not work however i do have a question for you, do you get random lockups? i can almost guarentee a lockup everytime i try to use the comp and its getting a bit frusterating
AK-87
Alright so, as for the random lock ups, I think it could be some bad kext cause the freezes, though I might very well be wrong, since I am a noob to mac osx, mine locked up on me only twice, dont remember what I was doing during the first time, but the last time it happend was when I was browsing this website. But at the time I also had a bad kext for my audio installed, I was just trying all kinds of them. Right after that last lock up, I uninstalled that kext, so either the bad kext was the reason, or I am just a bit lucky with it not happening again yet. Also did you use ##### or EFI when installing. I think it could have something to do with the audio not working. Cause for some ppl audio appearntly worked off the bat. I assume those ppl used #####, I used EFI, I installed iATKOS S3, if i am not mistaken thats what it was called, than I had to look for a working combo update from apple's website. Still can't figure out the audio. oh and one more question, does your SL recognize all 8gb of ram?
chrisono
my SL sees all 8 gigs of ram what audio kext did you end up using? and it dose seem to lock up allot on the net well more then when doing other things
AK-87
atm im sticking with the voodohda 0.2.1 doesnt get the sounds to work, but unlike certain others, this one isnt causing grey screen lol
TsubakiSama
OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6 works with no problems at all on my G73JW, everything works but I haven't tested the card reader though. I did not use iatkos or hazards discs though since I wanted a vanilla installation of OS X. For installation I used this guide http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/ibo...ac-os-x-on.html Before installation was to remove my Windows 7 SSD disk from my G73JW completely or else it wouldn't be bootable after OS X and chameleon install. Also to install I used the bootflags "-v cpu=8 busratio=20 maxmem=4096" DO NOT USE -X I REPEAT DO NOT USE -X since -X means safe mode and in safe mode most drivers doesn't work such as sound, wifi and gfx, I made that mistake and first and tried different of install methods before I found out that booting without -X made all drivers work. So after installation I updated to 10.6.5 and used ##### and reboot. I also copied preboot.dmg from the ##### cd into /extra/extensions due to it having support for all drivers on the G73JW. You have to be on 10.6.5 for the wifi to work so go and find the wifi_ar9285 kext, also install nvidia from tonymacx86 and cuda update for mac from nvidia.com. I could also update to 10.6.6 with no problems at all though you have to re-install the nvidia drivers from tonymacx86 if you update to 10.6.6. So with this I got everything to work on my G73JW, it's a hell of a hackintosh laptop. Also if it matters I made a DSDT with the DSDT patcher gui. chrisono
hey there im trying a install from the 10.6 disk and it panics before i can get to te setup screen :S followed tonymacs ##### guide but no dice did you physicly take out the extra 4 gigs of ram? TsubakiSama
I used the 10.6.3 retail disk so try getting that one. And boot the install with "-v cpu=8 busratio=20 maxmem=4096"

AK-87
Well was away for a while. I followed tonymacs guide, as one of you here mentioned, used #####, but couldnt get the installation to boot with a retail cd :/ so ones again I used the Iatkos cd that I had, this time upon installation I actually had sound. Though after I used #####, it messed up my sound, I wish I could somehow use ##### permanently to have a working sound. So I am thinking that the only fix for me, is to reinstall everything, and now before I do anything with ##### back up the kexts for the sound, hopfuly that would fix it. So atm im on 10.6.6 flickering seems to have stopped, everything seems to be working. oh, safari for some reason just freezes on most sites before being able to load them, had to download firefox to go on the web, didn't have that problem on my 10.6.5. no Freezes so far either. basically upon installation of the 10.6.3 I had sound only, no wifi, no ethernet, no keyboard or mouse. that y I used ##### right after, and when installed #####, lost the sound :/ at least now I more or less know the sound problem source, I read in a lot sites now that this happens on other laptops too. After you will use this voodoo hda .kexts as attached. i fixed it so it should work for everyone. VoodooHDA.kext.zip
viperware
I used the 10.6.3 retail disk so try getting that one. And boot the install with "-v cpu=8 busratio=20 maxmem=4096" with these bootflags, does it make it unnecessary to remove 2 sticks of ram?
