Mebster
yknow, in my opinion, i dont really care if something is made in china, I just want a product thats high quality, ive found that products that are made in america cost a little more money, but they last much longer (personal experience here), so i suffer a little longer, save up a little more money and buy it, because its the better product, I will also pay a little more for better service, price isnt everything *cough* Wal-Mart *cough*. And china isnt really TAKING all our jobs, they are taking our manufacturing jobs, our "union" jobs so to speak. Theres got to be tons of different jobs that are more like office jobs and {censored}. And yes, its harder to get a job, but its not really anybodys fault. After WW2, pretty much the only country that wasnt ground to a pulp was the USA, that gave us 50 years of unparalleled prosperity, those 50 years are now coming to an end, and its up to us to find a way to adapt to it, or be left behind. To balance the scale, make companies pay taxes whether they have their business out of this country or not, if they are based in america (an american company) they have to pay taxes anyway. regardless of what country their operations are in... Nice post. To be fair it's Chinas time to make some money and good luck to them. The people need it more than most of us do. Complaining about your jobs going abroad isn't really going to change anything. And in reality there isn't much we can do. Cheaper is just more profitable and companies want profitit so they'll move. And anyway they're taking less skilled jobs mainly and so if the rest of the world is feeling a pinch as China rises, it's just because they have too many unskilled workers within the country. Obviously the way to feel the pain less is for the people to become more skilled. And given that most of our countries have the capability to train people well (unis,... can't think of anything else) there really shouldn’t be an excuse. At the end it's only your/our own fault for being as skilled (+- a little) as a guy in a third world country. To be honest i would like the idea of china prospering more if I knew the wealth was being distributed more equally through-out the country. The fact that it isn't is mainly what worries me. OryHara
To be honest i would like the idea of china prospering more if I knew the wealth was being distributed more equally through-out the country. The fact that it isn't is mainly what worries me. China needs a revolution, they have been run by a dictatorship FAR too long. If China had more people like the tank guy it would happen. The American companies are to blame here. Since Bushy boy has been in office we have had a %6 decrease in available jobs. The highest it has ever been since the great depression. As far as my uncle. He would probably disagree. BUT. He has taken up raising malinois dogs and selling them to help make up for his losses. He is raising pigs as well. He may be getting into assorted industries that the pig can provide before long. He and his wife both worth there at Benchcraft. Ill never buy anything from Benchcrap as long as I live. Ashley furniture has brought hundreds of jobs to the town here to rival Benchcraft. I hope they do well with that. That mans that since there are more jobs, people buy more computers, and more people f*** up windoze, so I make more money fixing them. Benchcraft once asked me some years ago to fix some machines there at their plant. It told them to burn in hell, and told them why. People like to see "Made in USA", or "Made in 'your country'" stamped on the box they buy. Thats why the none of the parts in the machines I sell come from China. The boards & memory come from South Korea (they outsource here) because there is a Hyundai plant in Alabama. The cases are made in California, the fans in New Mexico, the screws are made here in Ripley, and the hard drives are Japanese, and the burners are Pioneer, which is a Japanese company that outsources TO America. If i can find made in America stamped on it, I will get it. I don't really care about cost. Unlike HP. But like Apple. I want to provide my customers with Quality, not {censored}. If there is nobody left to work, there is nobody getting paid, which means there is nobody left to buy anything. Most of technology stuff is going to "India" now. I charge $1 a minute support to talk to an American if I have to call a software company. But too bad if I have to talk to someone I can't understand, because then I charge $10 a minute. So outsourcing is actually making it more expensive. At least in this town it is. I do my part. killbot1000
good point, some outsourcing actually costs more money in the long run, I think companies today are sooo fixated on short term gain, ah...bothers me..
