MyRightEye
I have searched before posting, but can't find much at all. Most info is more than 2 years old and no longer relevant. So regrettably I ask a question that probably been asked before. I have very simple needs. I need to build a headless server (I will connect to it with ScreenSharing if I need to). I have a monitor for initial install though, so don't worry about that. I only need the server to have two things. A port-multiplier eSATA card, and gigabit Ethernet. All it will be doing is running a RAID 5 array and running as a file server for just one person, me. I want to go as cheap as humanly possible, with the exception of the NIC card and eSATA card, which I'd like a quality component, but nothing extreme. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
MyRightEye
OK, so right now I have decided on: GIGABYTE GA-P55-USB3 LGA 1156 Intel P55 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core i3-540 Clarkdale 3.06GHz LGA 1156 73W Dual-Core Desktop Processor BX80616I3540 Kingston ValueRAM 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit Thermaltake V6 BlacX Edition Gaming Chassis Mid Tower Steel Computer Case BlacX Top Mounted HDD Docking Station VM100M1W2Z The motherboard says it has no onboard video, yet it has built-in video ports. What's with that?? Do I really need to buy a video card??
Mushishi
Where do you seen any video ports on the mobo... http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-p...spx?pid=3440#ov Because i am having a hard time to see them.. If you want to use the onboard gma from the cpu then you need a motherboard with H55 chipset as that support the i3/i5's buildin gpu...

Do you have any suggestions of a motherboard with USB 3 that will use the built-in i3 graphics? So what about this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813157214 Or if I forgo the USB 3. Then what about this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813157190
