JustinAiken
Ever since the 10.6.5 update, my computer will periodically (once every 24 hours or so) go to hell; my RAM will become full because syslogd starts taking up several gigs, and the system.log file grows until my computer has no free space left at all... 10GB or so!! This last time I took a screenshot of the log (which took 20 minutes because the computer was so unresponsive!), this message repeats thousands and thousands of times: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/237688-syslog-swelling-to-gigs-killing-computer/ Share on other sites
palz
Maybe disable the syslog? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/237688-syslog-swelling-to-gigs-killing-computer/#findComment-1587529 Share on other sites
JustinAiken
How does one do that? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/237688-syslog-swelling-to-gigs-killing-computer/#findComment-1587544 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
Consider trying to fix the issue itself rather than disabling the log. Looks like something is going on with Javascript and Firefox? There's a mention of 'lobobrowser' which is an internet browser written in Java: http://www.lobobrowser.org/ Try disabling or uninstalling your firefox plugins? Maybe do some Firefox cleaning? Back up your bookmarks and then delete the preference and user profile folders.
