Elder Usr
Hello All, First off, I am a new user here at InsanelyMac, so a big hello to everyone. I am an avid user of both Windows and Linux and hope eventually that I will be able to help the forums here at InsanelyMac. Here is my issue: I have an Inspiron 1720. I am trying to get my Inspiron to run iATKOS v.7. Here is my hardware: 82801 HEM LPC Interface Controller (Intel) 82801 USB UHCI Controller (INTEL) Broadcom BCM 4401-80 (NIC) Sata IDE/eIDE Controller (Intel) Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT Broadcom BCM4238 802.11a/b/g/n The issue I am having is that after I go through the installation process of the software mentioned above, I then get no errors on boot initially loading the DVD, and after selecting which kext I want to install, which is listed below: -Main System -Disabler -EFI Strings for Nvidia -Old Enablers (Titan) -Intel Sata/IDE -USB -Laptop Battery -NTFS-3G -Broadcom Wire/wireless -Post Install After its completed the installation, I then verified that the MBR (I formated the drive using HFS+ and placed the MBR on that drive as active using Gparted before the install). I am unable to get pass the IOAPIC error. I can give you more details if you would like, and I hope I would be able to get this up and running. Thanks, Elder Usr Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236878-unable-to-get-to-boot-into-os-after-install/ Share on other sites

Thanks, Elder Usr mmm I seems that the error is in the Intel SATA/IDE, go to windows and run everest (if you have it installed, if not, download it) and go to moterboard\chipset and check if your southbridge is upper ICH5, if is, go to your bios setting and activate Native SATA support and in packages select AHCI SATA, if is lower, then choice Intel SATA Driver, my board is a ICH8 and i choose that driver, make sure that you select proper drivers for ps2, ethernet and video, no choice all packages from a kind, choice only the specific package, be sure to use charmeleon bootloader... Be sure you have all detail of your hardware using everest I have same iATKOS version in my Presario C700, you will like it.... Wish you luck Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236878-unable-to-get-to-boot-into-os-after-install/#findComment-1581307 Share on other sites

Wish you luck Well, thats what i was figuring too. I've currently got the machine running windows 7, so I'm trying everest right now and will let you know my findings. Currently as is, I think though it hasn't found my drivers for the south bridge, cause it says "Trial Version" or it very well could be the fact I'm using the 30 day eval of Everest. I'm gonna re-install the drivers for my chipset, and let you know. Worse to worse, I'll find out and test that. Thanks, EDIT: So, here is my details for the southbridge: Device Description North Bridge: Intel Crestline-PM PM965 South Bridge: Intel 82801HBM ICH8-DO Field Value South Bridge Properties South Bridge Intel 82801HBM ICH8-DO Intel Platform Santa Rosa Revision / Stepping F2 / B0 Package Type 676 Pin mBGA High Definition Audio Codec Name SigmaTel STAC9205X Codec ID 838476A0h / 102801F2h Codec Revision 00100204h Codec Type Audio Supported Sound Formats 44 kHz, 48 kHz, 88 kHz, 96 kHz, 176 kHz, 192 kHz, 16-bit, 20-bit, 24-bit High Definition Audio Codec Name Conexant D330 Codec ID 14F12C06h / 14F1000Fh Codec Revision 00100000h Codec Type Modem PCI Express Controller PCI-E 1.0 x1 port #1 Empty PCI-E 1.0 x1 port #2 In Use @ x1 (Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card Wireless Network Adapter) PCI-E 1.0 x1 port #4 Empty So, it seems me and you use the same ICH8. I'll try the install again, but as previously mentioned, I dont know where I am going wrong. Elder Usr
Hey Just a quick update. Tried to do an install as previously mentioned with the proper configuration, and as previously mentioned I did use the same APCI option and Sata option as you have advised, still having issues bringing the device up after the install. I did use Chamelon this time as the bootloader, and that seemed to work for fixing some of the issues, but I still get a kernel panic. Do you know how to do the F8 options like you have the options when using Darwin, but within Chamelon bootloader? So I can get a -v and therefore have more to go on why it panic'd? Thanks, Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236878-unable-to-get-to-boot-into-os-after-install/#findComment-1581533 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
-EFI Strings for Nvidia-Old Enablers (Titan) Don't select more than one nvidia card injection method. Same thing goes for the ICHx - don't select several drivers for the same hardware. If your Intel ICHx doesn't have AHCI mode, you need to select AppleIntelPIIATA.kext. dothacker
1. you forgot to choose your modified kernel... 9.5 or 9.7 2. Do not choose more than 1 kext for video.. either EFI strings or Enabler, not both 3. Choose ICHx support (i think that's what it's called...) 4. leave the USB alone (meaning, do not choose it) i dont remember about the disabler... i think you have to choose between AppleDecrypt and dsmos... choose one, not both. hope that sheds some light. Gringo Vermelho
i dont remember about the disabler... disabler.kext is not needed when using the voodoo kernel and derivatives. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=209192 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236878-unable-to-get-to-boot-into-os-after-install/#findComment-1581907 Share on other sites

Gringo Vermelho
Well. dsmos.kext or AppleDecrypt.kext are mandatory (and totally unrelated to disabler.kext). OS X will not work without one of these no matter how compatible the hardware is. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1407796 On hardware that can run the vanilla kernel, you can use fakesmc.kext instead. The voodoo kernel (and derivatives) blacklist prevents an extension that fakesmc needs from loading: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1407796 Although it is possible to get around that by disabling the blacklist - but then you need disabler.kext. Elder Usr
So hey guys, Tried again last night and here is what I tried (probably missed something or shouldnt have added something) - Main System - FakeSMC (Cause I didn't see dsmos or AppleDecrypt.ket) - RTC - AHCI Sata - Voodoo HDA - NATIT - Broadcom Wifi - Broadcom BCM440x Still no dice, could it be because of the FakeSMC? and as far as the RTC option goes, I really dont know what that is, and would like to know if you guys can shed some light cause in install it mentions that I need to select one of those. Thanks Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236878-unable-to-get-to-boot-into-os-after-install/#findComment-1583291 Share on other sites
