cryptr
Hello i'm Nick, new to the os x community I really want to try out the Mac OS and maybe see if xcode is something for me. However I can't seem to get this to work, this is what happens : I have VMware workstation 7.0 installed and tried to install OS X through iatkos v7, iPC 10_5_6 and using a combination of darwin_snow.iso & my iatkos v7 on a downloaded OS X server 10.6 preset. (this came in the snowy_VM package). Now, mostly when i boot from DVD it already gives the "CPU disabled by guest OS" message, so i follow instructions and boot in verbose. After this all is fine and installs. Then when i try to boot on HD it usually goes wrong. I have tried combinations of -v -f -legacy and -x and also -v busratio=7, 20 or 31 cpus=1. But all inevitably bring me to the CPU disabled message. I have also tried changing Cpus in the settings but that did not change anything so i have no clue on what i should set this. (i used busratio 31 because in one of the error logs i saw it said busratio path 31) The weird thing is that i've been able to get through one time! i did a simple -v busratio=7 cpus=1 on iatkos 7 and out of nowhere it booted to the setup screen, however at the last screen where you have to give login and password, the 2 password fields were uncontrollable, when i clicked on them they kept filling up with a random password thus giving a fields do not match error. I decided to reboot and did the same thing ... but it went back to the cpu disabled i've just tried an snowy_VM combined with ipc and booting in verbose gives me this : "The real-time clock was not properly initialized on your system!" Can you guys help me with this one or recommend another image/tutorial? i'm currently Dling ideneb 1.5.1 and iatkos s3 v2 just to keep on troubleshooting this. My system is the following : gfx : Evga NVIDIA 8800GTX mobo : Asus Blitz Extreme (P35 chipset) cpu : Intel core 2 quad Q6700 @2.66Ghz(4cpus) ~ 3.2Ghz (fsb highered in bios) RAM : 6144GB DDR3 (2x1 & 2x2) OS : Windows 7 ultimate 64bit Any help appreciated! evilsquelch
I am getting the same thing Nick, i think your CPU may not have the vt=X support just like mine doesn't. I did find something i am trying right now that may help you. I will keep you updated if it works for me http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=232183&hl= Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236613-vmware-snow-leopard-i-cannot-get-past-cpu-disabled-by-guest-os-error/#findComment-1579617 Share on other sites

Used the iatkos 3s v2.iso and set virtualbox up according to tutorial http://www.taranfx.com/install-snow-leopard-virtualbox I followed ONLY step 1. I also needed to add -v busratio=7 cpus=1 to get it to boot correctly from the image. After install everything runs on it's own. internet works, sound doesn't yet but i don't really need it. I've tried using this image in VMWare but that gives some errors 1: mouse not capturing, it did after some tweaks adding usb and resetting a few times. 2: when installed and you try to boot from HD it says mach_kernel not found Hope this helps Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/236613-vmware-snow-leopard-i-cannot-get-past-cpu-disabled-by-guest-os-error/#findComment-1579734 Share on other sites

I got it working but the performance was so bad that I decided to go with a full on install. I have no patience for a slow VM. The my attention shifts before a program opens. David-Huff
I can not figure out what keeps making either the SnowLeoDVD.iso or the iATKSo s3v2 snow leopard keep this message when I try to run it as guest OS in VirtualBox. I know its an older OS but its the one I need to make sure has no errors before installing it on an old PC. I don't know how to make it stop the kernel panic at this stage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
