Hi !

Thank you for the tuto, 'just did the same hackintosh and it went well !

Did you manage to made the "Sleep" feature work? When i "sleep" the machine, it only "sleeps" for a couple of second and quit the sleep mode directly :/

i never used the sleep function, but you can try installing sleep enabler :)

Thank you for the answer.

For information :

I tried to re install the OS, but this time I unchecked the "Sleep Enabler" box in the install menu.

The computer now enter the "sleep mode" but remains very noisy (the CPU fan (and maybe the HDD) don't stop)) and it's impossible to wake up the machine...

I also tried to update to 10.6.5 with "Software Update" Menu. All went well but the USB (keyboard+mouse) don't work anymore. Maybe i should backup all the Kexts before updating, then update and reinstall the kexts in the folder from an other computer (via screen sharing for example).

Do you think it should work?

If you tell me so, I'll test the method and keep you posted.

the USB problem happened to me when i update to 10.6.5 too, and i already tried switching the old kexts into 10.6.5, it doesn't work. im just staying on 10.6.4 for now.

Hello,

You said after update to 10.6.5, the USB keyboard and mouse is not working.

I HAVE THE SOLUTION!

Yes, suddenly my computer restart after leaving it for an hour (it update itself, I forgt to disable automatic update >_<) then USB kb/mouse not working at all =.=

Here is the solution :

1. Start your computer with original iATKOS 10.6.3 DVD.

2. Start terminal

3. Copy the file IOUSBFamily.kext from /Volumes/[iATKOS 10.6.3 DVD]/System/Library/Extensions (you have to copy it recursively) to the destination folder /Volumes/[YOUR MACINTOSH HARDDISK]/System/Library/Extensions

4. Then you need to chmod, chown and rebuild extension.mkext :

- chmod -R 755 IOUSBFamily.kext

- chown -R root:wheel IOUSBFamily.kext

- kextcache -v 1 -a i386 -a x86_64 -m /Extra/Extensions.mkext /Extra/Extensions

- kextcache -v 1 -a i386 -a x86_64 -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions

5. restart the computer and booting to the HD.

6. VOILA! The USB kb and mouse is working again

Note : There is a problem with IOUSBMassStorageFamily.kext because when kextcache rebuild the extensions.mkext, the program say it has no dependencies with IOUSBFamily. I believe these both kexts are related. Based on the name..it used for USB storage devices. I tried to plug an USB flashdisk, and it not appear in Finder. Fix? Maybe you have to do the same with IOUSBFamily I described above.
