i'vegotdafunk
Hi! I've bought some cheap hardware recently, thought that it would be ultra-compatible with mac os x. It seems that I was wrong =) So, my hardware: mobo Gigabyte GA-P43-ES3G Intel core2quad kingston 4gb RAM good old nVidia 7300LE and 2 PCI extensions audio card ESI MAYA44 (there are official macos drivers) and official Apple Airport card via mini-pci to pci adapter(haven't installed them yet) Tried installing with iAtkos s3v2 with default bootloader, all possible usb fixes, EFI string for videocard. So far it boots only with -x flag. No sound working, no ethernet working. Then I installed custom macbios by cartri on my mobo, didn't seem to help either. Now I'm thinking of trying tony's method... Is there a method that would 99% work for me, except for buying an iMac? Is it even possible to install macos on my hardware?
i'vegotdafunk
Anybody? At least tell me, what am I missing with the -x flag. When I'm not using it, the os boots successfully but then I'm stuck at a blue screen
dothacker
Try choosing Chameleon R5 as your bootloader, no check on "Bootloader options", and choose quoopo 10.3.0 as your modified kernel, choose Nvidia Enabler OR EFI for your graphics card. Leave the sound drivers alone (keep VoodooHDA and AppleHDA checked).
i'vegotdafunk
Thanks, I'm trying it now... By the way, what did you use for your Nvidia?
i'vegotdafunk
Oops, seems like I get a kernel panic at boot after doing what you told me ... Wow, progress! after booting with -x I get to see my DVD-drive at last!! still no sound though... And it does'n see my pci audio card either, although it's plugged in, and the drivers are installed. dothacker
so it works on single-user mode but not normal mode? Late answer - EFI string DVI/VGA. also if you can, can u post a pic of your screen with the kp?
i'vegotdafunk
Will post the picture tomorrow: i'm so tired today... anyway, the kp screen says something about AppleHDA and cpu 2, they're conflicting about something... btw I obtained a mini-pci to pci adapter today - so I'm gonna try and plug it in - and God, please!!, let it work!! i'vegotdafunk
ahhh, I forgot the "express" word in the name of adapter... :'( seems that I'll have to buy a winking on ebay, and ship it to russia It's a shame that our ebay sucks so much. so, forget about wifi for now. I think I'll try to do a retail install tomorrow if a get a double layer dvd-r...
i'vegotdafunk
At last, I managed to do a successful install. I installed iAtkos S3v2, with qoopz 10.3.0 kernel, AnVal bootloader with ethernet and usb plugins, EFI string DVI/VGA, no audio kexsts at all! (that's important) After installation I installed AppleHDA and HDA enabler, that I found searching this forum (i searched something like gigabyte ALC888 snow leopard). Apparently it still doesn't see my pci audio card, but never mind it. didn't try ethernet either, but I thing it will work OOB. Problem solved
