Mayr
Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and a newbie in this hackintosh business. I recently bought a Acer 5820tg wich has the following specs: Inter core i5-450m Intel® HD Graphics with 128 MB / ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5650 (switchable graphics) 4 GB of DDR3 1066 MHz memory 15.6" HD 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, I was wondering if I can install OSx Snow Leopard on this machine and if it is relatively simple to do. Thank you very much. Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/235268-acer-5820tg-i5-ati5650-hackintosh-capable/ Share on other sites
ksgriff06
Hey I don't know for sure but I just did this with a Gateway N59c57u which has very similar specs (Intel Core i5, ATI 5470, 4 GB of Ram) and it has worked pretty well. I am having issues with the internet and with the sound (hoping for some support on my topic). I installed with Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD. Mayr
Yes, our systems seem similar. So I just have to burn the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD and follow the on sreen instructions or is it more complicated than that? Thnks for the help. ThE_MarD
Heyyo, I have a Gateway NV5909H (Intel Core i3-330M, ATi Radeon 5650) and I got it working in Snow Leopard v10.6.4 without issues.. minus Ethernet (Broadcom) and the vidcard in proper resolutions with QE/CI.. everything else works. I used ##### Supported, Retail SL 10.6.3 Disk and then #####. http://www.tonymacx86.com/ I don't reccomend using kalyway cause it didn't work well at all for me and it's only Leopard anywho. [EDIT1] NOTE! DON'T INSTALL the Graphics Driver update.. it will just cause SL to boot to a black screen or other random {censored} cause it does not have support for monitor out, HDMI out or LCD cause it uses displayport for display.. no displayport emulators yet. ThE_MarD
Heyyo, Welcome to the forums mearas. Sadly there is no properly working kext (driver) for the ATi Mobility Radeon 5650 yet.. in fact, there is no working one for any ATi Mobility Radeon 5000 Series at the moment.. we're all still hoping someone figures out a good way to enable LVDS (type of LCD connection current laptops use) on hackintosh with ATi kexts loaded. So we are stuck in the same boat.. waiting on something awesome to happen like someone getting this working. ThE_MarD
Heyyo, Np at all man. That HDA enabler method relies mainly on DSDT edits, so if you don't have one of those? you should use something like VoodooHDA which is part of ##### (Note the experimental versions (higher than 0.2.2) you actually need to remove the applehda.kext from /E/E or it causes issues. What soundcard does your lappy have? Realtek? If so what version? Mine is a RealTek ALC 272 for example so I use VoodooHDA.kext v0.2.1 cause it works fine to get my audio. U are something like God here man Yes, i am using a Realtek sound card (AC/MC 97 soundcard and HDMI digital Out Port.) Based on this site http://www.cyberindian.net/2010/01/25/acer...e-i3-processor/ The only difference is that mine is i7 620M Whats the thing now... I installed the first time the VoodooHDA 0.2.72 (the last option from MB) and after its finished, when it was supposed to boot, a horrible sound came on my speakers that i could stand it and turn off my laptop. After that, i think, i am not sure that i installed some version of VoodooHDA that didnt make my laptop scream like the demonic girl from the REC (nice movie btw ) and boot to OsX successfully, of course with no sound. When i clicked to the Voodoo setting in System Preferences it said "i dont remember actually, but it was something with the registry" Anyway, i installed now some version of VoodooHDA but again when i go to the Voodoo setting it says "ERROR Can't Map Memory" BUT What it's drives me crazy is: Before the update i had both (sound and mic) fully working, and AFTER the update nothing is working. I managed to have output sound (my speakers) but my mic doesn't work.. DUM thats allot of typing Thanks again for replying soon Sorry for my poor-English Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/235268-acer-5820tg-i5-ati5650-hackintosh-capable/#findComment-1616935 Share on other sites
ThE_MarD
Heyyo, Heh I do alright, but the real masterminds in the world of hackintosh are people like Netkas, Kabyl, Trauma, MacMan and TonyMac.. If they make a thread? check it out cause it could be something epic. Main people for us to watch for our ATi Mobility Radeons? Kabyl or Netkas.. they seem like the most likely two that could get it working (of course all depending on their availability in their personal lives and hardware so who knows if they are even considering it..). As for your audio? If you are using RealTek AC'97 Audio? It's not part of the HDA. If you dual boot to be safe just go on google and look for the program called "Unknown Devices" or "Speccy" cause either or both should tell ya which you are running either HDA or AC97. If it is HDA just try the rollback driver from inside the ##### (use with "System Utilities" or "Kext Utility" which is also found in #####/google). If it's AC97 Audio for sure no doubt? then maybe try http://www.kexts.com and see if they have a decently recent AC97 kext there cause they should.
