Ty Stixx
Then I believe it's not a retail DVD, but a restore one. I've downloaded a few versions and it happens with all of'em.... strange
Aescleal
Can I ask here as well? I've used this thread as my launch point to install my new retail 10.6.3. I've used the directions and built the USB. Then try to install the OS to a 36GB Raptor drive (Western Digital 10k rpm). It looks to work great, the usb drive loads, I can see the Raptor drive, I can install to it and it goes through the motions wonderfully. But then when it comes time to reboot it stops on the mac screen telling me I have to restart my computer and to push and hold the power button until it shuts off, then hit it again... (duh). My system is a P5E, 4GB ram, Patriot 8GB usb pen drive, ATI Radeon 3870 video. I should note that I do have a successful install of 10.5.2 Leopard running on a separate HDD (but on same computer). So it is possible for me to reboot and fiddle more with the install drive. But it's been a whole lot of hours spent rebooting and trying so far. Any thoughts on what may be stopping my install? Oh. I did install MyHack to the usb boot drive, but could I have done something wrong with that maybe? I'm not overly clear on what to do with the patches, and when/where to apply then. Should those be installed before first bootup? Thanks for this by the way, this is a great way to learn and understand this stuff. I'm just at a road block!
