Amacx86
Hi, Is flashing cards reversible? IS it done to make PC cards work on OSX natively? Cheers I haven't looked at the topic of flashing video cards in years. Back in the old days, I flashed a couple of PCI Voodoo 3 series cards to work with Powermacs running Mac OS 8 and 9. Flashed an AGP Geforce once to work with a G4 cube. Haven't thought about flashing anything more recent...not even sure if it means anything in the modern world of PCI-x. Gringo Vermelho
Is flashing cards (...) done to make PC cards work on OSX natively? Yes, if you're going to use the card with a real Mac. You can't do it with most cards, usually the EFI ROM is too large to fit on the flash ROM on a PC video card. Visit aquamac's forum and Netkas' blog for more information. But it doesn't make any sense to flash a PC video card with a Mac EFI ROM if you're installing OS X on a PC. Your PC doesn't speak EFI. I'm not sure but I don't think a PC would even boot with a Mac video card in it, unless it's the secondary card.
