kismitt
I currently updated my OSX86 to 10.6.4 and it's running great! When is it safe to run Software update for any security update? Here's my screen capture of update that I need to run. What is safe and won't kill my machine?
Gringo Vermelho
The updates that don't require a restart are all safe for you to install. The rest I can't say anything about without knowing your specs and installation type, which patches you're using for video (if any). You can read about the security updates and what's in them over at Apple's website.

Which I install iatkos v2 10.6.3 and then did an update to 10.6.4 My video is an Intel x3100 Video Everything seems to be working except my sound from VoodooHDA 2.7.1. It won't save my input gain value so I have to go into the VoodooHDA pref panel to adjust the gain every time for audio to work. And the rest of the update are software update. Are those safe to update or Apple will kill my OSX86? Maybe I don't understand when to run the Software update or best not to update anything. Gringo Vermelho
How would I know which update needs a restart? If you've updated to 10.6.4 via Software Update without any major issues happening, then you can probably just get everything. Apple are not out to kill your Hackintosh, if they wanted to do that they would have done something a long time ago.
SystemError51
So far for me (installed with Tonymac and #####), I could install everything that required restart without issues (including security updates). The only exception (I think, I don't wanna chance it) are system updates, like from 10.6.3 to 10.6.4. For that I downloaded the combo upgrade, installed, DID NOT REBOOT after it was finished, and ran ##### - THEN rebooted. That did the trick for me.
Neflem
When a major update comes out. Like 10.6.5 to be unleashed soon. Wait a couple days and check the forums to make sure there is nothing wonky with it. Worst thing is to roll back. With that said - do you keep a copy of your /S/L/E folder - just in case? Go register here: http://forum.thinkpads.com And read this post: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f...pe&start=60 One of the members hacked the VoodooHDA.kext and has sound plus the mic working!! There is a DL link in that post for it.
