toology
Hello, I have a fully working hackintosh (10.6.4 with all updates) based on Core2Duo 2,6 Ghz, Nvidia 8800GTS and Creative Audigy 2 ZS Pro. It works well enough and QuartzExtreme is active. System info shows the correct cpu and speed, graphics is added via EFI string and correctly recognized and sound works with kX drivers for audigy. I even played a 3D game at hd resolution with no problems. I loaded a 1080p mkv (h264/dts) using MplayerX and the video struggles with a lot of frame dropping. I have a MacBook Pro with similar specs and it has no problems playing 1080p using MplayerX. Also when I use Windows 7 on the Hackintosh, I have no dropped frames whatsoever. Any ideas? Thanks! JBraddock
Did you try another player. VLC may be?
quattrofx
I am using MakeMKV for ripping Blu-ray discs to HD and "PLEX" Media streaming Server application for playing it. In the PLEX Properties you can activate 5.1 surround under Audio settings. http://www.makemkv.com/ http://www.plexapp.com/ I am very satisfied with this solution. toology
Haven't tried VLC yet, only QuickTime with Perian and MplayerX. I'll give VLC a spin, but since it's also based on ffmpeg I won't hold my breath @quattrofx: The problem is not the sound exactly, the player is unable to process the movie fast enough, so it drops frames constantly. Pozdrav i tebi! EDIT: Don't know how, but VLC plays the file fine. Wierd, but thaks!
