cowfish Posted September 7, 2010 Share Posted September 7, 2010 I've been trying to enable sleep on my laptop running a vanilla install of 10.6, upgraded to 10.6.3. I haven't been having any luck, I used to use SleepEnabler which didn't work, however now I've switched to using one of the DSDT's from this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=190780. At one point, I put it to sleep and it worked, and after that it never slept again. As of now, when I try to sleep it, the HDD light blinks for a second (not long enough to be hibernation) and then the computer restarts with the keyboard disabled. I have to remove the battery to fix this (strange values written to some chip i don't know lol?). Anyway does anyone know anything about sleep on this computer? I'm also having an issue with the Wifi drivers which still does not work (it's a Intel 4965 chip and the "iwifi" driver gives me kernel panic). I've found the good sound driver however : use latest "VoodooHDA" driver. It will work. As far as I know that wireless chipset never worked in OS X, you would need the Broadcom one I think it was called the Dell TrueMobile card or something. And yes VoodooHDA does work quite well for the sound card By the way, the broadcom card works vanilla, it looks like apple has implented a broadcom driver. fusion71au Posted September 14, 2011 Share Posted September 14, 2011 I managed to successfully install Lion on my XPSm1530 following immo's excellent guide and dsdt modified for 10.6.8/10.7 as described here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=190780. To get sleep working, I started up terminal and typed the following sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0 followed by my password. The above is required to set "hibernate mode to 0".
