andyf
Hi everyone! I finally had success to install Tiger on a P4 custom with a Matrox Millennium G550 Card... I can pass at boot the Graphics Mode argument like 1280x1024x32 and it works (i'm being told "VESA 3.0" graphic)... I have read I should add "....@85" at the end of "Graphics Mode..." but when i try to pass this to the loader, it reboots and keep rebooting everytime I try.. I have tried with less frequency settings (@60,@75)... with no results. At first sight it seems that the freq is 65hertz or even less if I try with "?video" at the booter, it propose to me a lot of combination.. but all of them are without "@85" or "@75" at the end. My monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 959NF) supports better freq (at the moment I have 1152x864x32@85 on WINDOWS) Anyone can help me? thank you Andy Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/2301-decent-refresh-rate/ Share on other sites
cyrana
If typing something like "Graphics Mode"="1152x864x32@85" doesn't work for you, you're out of luck. Only onboard intel graphics have full support, sorry. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/2301-decent-refresh-rate/#findComment-15037 Share on other sites
rblissitt
Like most everyone else, I end up with the default 1024x768 at 60Hz resolution/refresh without any tinkering with the "Graphics Mode" settings. When I do mess with the settings, I can't get any higher resolutions with anything more than black and white. I can, however, specify "1024x768x32@75" and that works. So at least I get a better refresh rate that's easier on my eyes. Using a GeForce2 Ultra nVidia-branded reference card. Wish I could update the BIOS, but it's a reference card... -kat Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/2301-decent-refresh-rate/#findComment-17575 Share on other sites

rblissitt
Heck, My *relatively* new ATI 9200 AGP only shows up as VESA 2.0, so I can't set a refresh rate on it. I guess ATI doesn't care about VESA as much as nVidia does... You are using MiXeD cAsE when you type in "Graphics Mode", right? I recall that matters. -kat Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/2301-decent-refresh-rate/#findComment-17727 Share on other sites
