I´m running OS X with 2GB, it depends of the use you do. I always have a lot of programs open, and with 2GB I usualy have only 400 /600 MB free. But it gives me more multitasking power than windows, I do a lot of video conversion and dvd recording and it doesn´t stall as windows do with me.

My laptop had 256mb - painfully slow under both XP and OS X. An upgrade to 768mb provided a healthy responsive system. I think if you already have 1gb you probably won't notice much increase other than under Video editing programs and the such. Less than 512mb seems to be noticeably slow.

Do you use Universal Binary applications or Rosetta? I ask 'cause my Rosetta's applications really suck. I got rid of them and I'm only using UB right now and I haven't had any problems. Basically, what are you using for video editing?
