JohannesPK
Hi There! I already have an Asus EeePC 1000H with OSX Leopard running. Thanks to http://eeemac.blogspot.com/ (not longer available for everybody) I did the installation my myself without any problems. Now, after 1,5 Years running Windows Vista the annual re-installation of my windows-system is due. After having the EeeMac, the Windows system just freaks me out more and more. I read the compatibility chart (http://www.insanelymac.com/osx86db/) i just can't figure out, if my system is compatible with OSX and what i need to install everything. The "bad" part is, that i wanted to do the installation in my holidays (starting to work this Tuesday again) and reeeeaaaalllyyyy want the OSX on my system. I always thougt about buying an macmini, but i think it is just not worth the money upgrading from my system right now to a macmini. In my opinion, i should wait at least one or two generations until i have a real step forward. Other to that, i use my desktop-pc just for iTunes, web, email and Photoshop, where none of that really need more system power at the moment. The specs of the system are: ASUS M2A-VM Mainboard LG DVD Rom 16x/52x 20x LG DVD-R/+R/RW H58N DL Nvidia Gforce 8400 GS 512 MB DDR2,PCi-E 250 GB SATA-II 7.200U/Min. 8MB Cache Samsung 2048 MB DDR2 PC800 Mhz (Dualchannel) AMD Athlon 5000+ X2 Dualcore (2x 2,6 GHz) i would really appreciate any kind of help and links, forwarding to guides a.e. At the end, please excuse my English, i am from Germany and trying my very best
enochpc
I have the same chipset in my Gigabyte board, runs snow leopard well with some help. Download Hazard 10.6.2, install without patches, legacy kernel, nVidia enabler, it's alc888a I believe there is info in the forums. I believe ethernet worked out of the box. You'll need a patched and edited DSDT file for CMOS reset fix, search definitive CMOS reset on this forum. I have some notes at home, if you need any other help let me know. I was able to update to 10.6.4 by copying my kexts, updating from a downloaded file, then recopy the kexts to the extensions folder before rebooting. JohannesPK
I downloaded the Hazard 10.6.2 When putting the DVD in the dvd-drive, it shows: EBIOS read error: Device timeout Blocck 7905864 Sectors 64 It then stays in an infinite reset loop can anybody tell me what i did wrong? I also tried ideneb, the setup works fine, but after the bootloader starts the system, nothing happens for hours (i tried all four kernels...) enochpc
sirbow2 I would install initially without patches, I haven't had much luck with the Hazard patches. Then once it boots I would download the patches from the Apple website, not from Software update. Johannes PK Did you burn your disc at 4x? You can get install errors if you burn your iso at full speed. Also, make sure you boot the install disc with the -x -v flags. Also, with the iDeneb, try a different graphics driver, you might not have had any video

I not even had the opportunity to type in the -v and -x. with ideneb i will try to activate the onboard-graphics card and then try again... thank you very much so far i will tell here if it worked or not. JohannesPK
Now i have a new problem. After Burning the DVD again with 3x-speed i don't have that old "error-message" again. Now after having the boot screen where i can choose the boot options, after the contdown i get the message: "System config file '/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found" When i choose -v as a boot-option i get the message: "Waiting for boot volume with UUID *XYZ*" After that i get some more lines which look pretty usual, then every two minutes just this line: "Still waiting for root device" Checked my BIOS Settings and can't find any mistake... JohannesPK
Is it possible, that i get that error message because i don't have a SATA DVD-drive? The DVD-drive is IDE and not SATA. My external DVD-drive (USB) doesn't help me either. I'm thinking about just buying a SATA DVD-Drive which should't be more than 20€ (26$)... enochpc
There has been issues with ide, a SATA drive might solve your problem. If your willing to spend 20 euro to give it a shot then I would, worse case you get a new DVD drive for your PC.
