How to check your hardware to see if it is compatible with OSx86

Many people in here are posting like this.

hey ppl im wonderin if mah hardwarez iz compatible

<system specs>

thx.

These clutter up the board and are quite annoying.

Most of these can be avoided by simply googling

"osx86 <model of motherboard>"

For example:

Sometimes that doesn't work:

In those cases you may need to add the manufacturer of the motherboard to the search. Your search will look like this:

"osx86 <manufacturer> <model of motherboard>"

Sometimes this does not apply esp. to these:

hey ppl im wonderin if mah hardwarez iz compatible

<system specs>

thx.

ps dont tell me to google mah mobo cuz itz already installed and i cant read the model

These can be avoided by simply finding the OSx86 distro with the coolest name (each one is just as good as the next so this is how I pick distros) and seeing if it will boot. If it won't go to the "Select Your Language" screen, try another. If neither work, then I'd say your motherboard is incompatible with OSx86.

imho this should be stickied.

Runs on any PC under Windows and checks an online database to see if there are OS X drivers for your hardware.

Of course it's not going to be helpful in making a buying decision unless you already have access to the hardware in question.
