Pennan
Hello, my name is Oskar and I live in Sweden. Please let me tell you my story. 3 months ago or so, i was really into getting OS X working on my computer. I installed it by DVD and everything seemed fine. But my dream was crushed when it did not load from the bootloader properly and people told me my hard drive was incompatible. So i stopped trying to install, I would anyway not have any sound or internet. I deleted the C:>Chain0 text in the bootloader and the CHAIN0 file and was going to format back the OS X partion, but it was invisible and not accessable so I forgot about it. 3 months later, 02.10 Swedish time, I was going to to a reboot to finish a program install before going to bed. And there it was. I only saw it briefly, but it did clearly say "Mac OS x86", something I hadnt seen for a very long time.. Windows booted automaticly, and as soon as it did, I rebooted. Finally, the momemt of truth. I tapped down to Mac OS x86 and pressed enter. "File is missing. Windows cannot boot. Please replace xxxxx.dll" . . . Dream crushed again. Now i really hated Mac. I returned into Windows, ready to remove the Chain0 bootloader text once and for all. But then it hitted me. The CHAIN0, I hadnt replaced the CHAIN0 on my C drive since I deleted it. I quickly mounted my Mac DVD and copied the file to my drive. Was my dream going to be ripped apart again? I rebooted and choosed Mac OS x86. Some text scrolling by....Some text...Some text....Some text...And then i saw it, Darwin bootloader, something i havent seen without the DVD in my drive. Lot's of text scrolling by, and then I saw it. A cursor. A blue background. A big sign that said "Welcome to Mac OS". Dreams do come true, although this coincidence is really overkill. But it doesnt stop there! So here i was, prepared for a offline and silent Mac-experience, since iv'e read it is not big a chance you have the right cards for those things. But guess what, everything works out of the box! I even got a 2 months .Mac subscription and a Penna_ha@mac adress! My mouse and keyboard works also. Now i am going to transfer some Mac programs from my other disks in the computer, everything is really easy when i can access every disk. I've already got my Music library set up in iTunes. Well, that's my story //Oskar, a very happy Mac/PC user. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/22717-my-amazing-story/ Share on other sites
voggorb
Nice! Could you tell us a little about the hardware on your computer? Is it intel or amd, is osx installed on a S-ATA or IDE drive? I get the same error as you did before it worked for you, so a little more information might help me to get my osx working! ps. jag e oxå svensk, hehe Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/22717-my-amazing-story/#findComment-150433 Share on other sites
