domino
Now that most of us have got OSx86 pretty much how we want it, I need some suggestions or How-To in squeezing out as much speed as possible. Those, tweekers, you know who you are. Those that have insanely high videos and hard drive scores. Please share you secrets. HoZy tipped me off on his benchy with Ram Drive. I still haven't been able to figure out how to make my swap files access Ram Drive. Theoretically, it makes sense since if you have your swap files access RAM, it would be a hell-of-allot faster. Other suggestions are welcome. Greets! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/2269-tweak-osx86/ Share on other sites
judy
Where is the sense in of taking away RAM from the OS in order to make swapping faster, which won't happen at all if the OS had enough RAM in the first place? Besides, there are already enough Mac OS tweaking sites, we don't need to create another one here, do we? Of course, tweaks that only apply on the x86 platform are always welcome. domino
Where did you ever get the idea that every application that run on a pc was stored in memory? What about Photoshop files? Instead of setting it on a physical scratch disk, wouldn't it a better idea to create a 200mb Ramdisk? If I wanted to tweak a real Mac, I sure would not have posted this on an x86 board. Come on now.. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/2269-tweak-osx86/#findComment-15362 Share on other sites
judy
I got the impression that you were talking about the page file used when the OS is short of RAM. Sorry if I misunderstood you. It was a popular (and by that time, valid) tweak for older versions of Windows to put the page file into a RAM disk, if you had more RAM than Windows could access, but these times are long gone by. domino
I understand what you are saying now Judy. I am a soon to be owner of a G4 hand-me-down notebook and a MacTel workhorse. I'd like to get as much information on my future gadgets so I don't have my thumb up my [fill in the blank] when it is actually in front of me. greets! domino
@jalal 1. This is not the proper place to post your question. Please learn forum etiquette. 2. I can not help you as what ever problem you are having is already posted on the other threads or has no solution. 3. PLEASE STOP STALKING ME. People do not like stalkers. Just because I have 177 post doesn't mean I know anything about OSx86. I know nothing. That is why I post questions in there appropriate forums/thread.
