There's already a thread about installing iAKTOS v7 on the Asus UL30 (bit outdated now, two months old), but there's seem to be people who's got it working successfully.

Now with iAKTOS S3 v2 and Snow Leopard out, is there anyone who has tried on their Asus UL30?

I'm playing around with it right now, but is there anyone who has got it working?

I just successfully managed to install iAKTOS S3 v2 on my Asus UL30VT netbook. Touchpad + keyboard works fine, usb too, can't get a higher resolution than 1024x728 and I haven't tested the wireless/wired network yet. So far so good.

The problem is that OSX boots fine on first boot, you go through the config wizard etc, but on shutting down it freezes at "MACH Reboot", forcing me to reset the pc.

The next time I boot up I'm getting kernel panic.

What I've learned so far:

Boot with the -cpu=1 flag (Haven't honestly tested without it)

No kernel patch seems to be needed (if you disregard the above mentioned problem, have tried qoopz 10.3.0 and 10.2.0 with same results)

Apple PS /2 is required to get the touchpad to work

Any update on this topic?

I just bought a UL30 and I'd love to be able to install OSX, so I'm hoping some progress has been made.

Using iATKOS s3 as well here. You have to put the hard disk in compatibility mode from the bios...slows the access to the hard disk but at least you will be able to use the g210m grapic card by default. Read the other two threads (UL30VT and UL30A)to make EVERYTHING working (I do not remember what I have done but everything was from those two threads).

What you do not get:

- no graphic card switching

- slow HD access because of the compatibility mode

- in photo booth, the webcam image is reversed (solutions do exist to this but it is in the other peripherals forum)

- problem with sleep (I do not mind as I never put the computer to sleep)

- the battery life is not as long as under Windows 7.

- problems with mirroring mode.

Using OSX as my only OS now.

I just tried an iatkos s3 v2 install, and it isn't working for me ...

I have set my SATA to "compatible", and I partitioned my drive into 2 extended/journaled partitions with MBR.

In iatkos, I chose ps/2 and battery as someone else had suggested, and the install seemed to work. i wasn't paying attention to it, and when I checked it, it looked like it had rebooted back to the installer. So, I unplugged my dvd drive and restarted. It eventually came up with the black screen telling me that I had to restart by holding down the power button. The next restart now just shows a circle with a line through it, as if it couldn't find a startup drive.

Is there a flag I should have used in the beginning or now?

Later, I booted with '-v', and it stalls at 'Waiting for root device', so it doesn't seem to have the driver ...

When I changed it back to "Enhanced", I am able to boot just fine into SL, but it's at 1024x768. That at least tells me that my installation is working but just needs to be tweaked.

Am I missing a SATA driver somehow?
