hi friends,

after 4 times trying to install, 5 minutes ago i am ready.

i had many troubles with 10.4.6. at past, like iopcifamily.kext, no complete opengl support, final cut crashes, image tricks crashes, sound over tascam us-428 was broken many times... and every time i reinstall 10.4.5, because there all things running as well.

today i install jas 10.4.6. use atix1000.kext from 10.4.5., use io80211.kext from 10.4.5, viaata.kext from 10.4.5. so my jas running ok, but have many troubles with opengl as well and sound doesnt work.

then i updated to 10.4.7 works, but same issues like in 10.4.6.

so i begann to search and do trial and error :D

first i copy opengl.framework from 10.4.5 to 10.4.7 and says "wow" no more opengl problems... final cut, image tricks everything works well.

then i try to install sound again but before i installed iousbaudio.kext from extensions_disabled folder.

restart and it works also... amazing :D

cubespinning works, no login error, chess doesnt crash, itunes control panel works... hope everything will work, but it seems so.

now my system runs on

amd x2 4400+

2 gb ram

ati x1600 xt (sapphire)

gigabyte nforce 4 ultra mainboard (usb, firewire, gbit lan, sound onboard works, no sata)

silicon image sata controller with 300 gb sata harddrive

tascam usb us428 soundcard

i can change resolutions

i have full sound support

and the performance is much more than in 10.4.5

great...

when i can help amd users... please ask.

yes:

with this apple.boot.plist

<dict>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>-v idlehalt=0</string>

<key>Boot Graphics</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>10</string>

</dict>

</plist>

now also 10.4.7. opengl frameworks and ati drivers work well

how did you make the SATA drives work???

Through using a Silicon Image PCI SATA-controller which just happens to have unibin-drivers just recently released.... You can forget about onboard SATA for now, nothing has changed on that front.

Thanks for the info, erikk, that sounds great!

I have a friend I've been helping with his hackintosh. We installed 10.4.4 via myz with 10.4.5 update on his:

AMD 3800+ X2

nforce 4 mb

X800XL vid card

1GB RAM

We had a lot of problems with stuttering, so disabled one core. He has a stable system, but really wants the second core and the ability to change resolutions (he can currently only run at 1280x1024 on his 1600x1200 dell 2001FP LCD).

What do you think the best steps would be to get to a system like yours? Here's what I'm thinking about trying:

1) Back up all his extensions

2) Install the 10.4.7 updater from JAS

3) Replace the applicable files you replaced from the backup, which would be:

io80211.kext

viaata.kext

opengl.framework

4) Use your apple.boot.plist

<dict>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>-v idlehalt=0</string>

<key>Boot Graphics</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>10</string>

</dict>

</plist>

Does this sound like a good process? Also, any suggestions on X800XL fixes?

Many thanks for any suggestions!
