yonyz
There are different versions for the retail OS X Snow Leopard DVD available on the net - 10.6, 10.6.2 and the latest 10.6.3 - Should I install the original one (10.6) and then update it using a tutorial, or just install the latest one? My PC specs: Intel Q6600 GeForce GTS 250 (works perfectly on Leopard) ESI Juli@ (works great with Audio Evolution's driver on Leopard; a Snow Leopard version is available, too, so no problem here) GIGABYTE GA-P35C-DS3R Thanks in advance. ileikcaek
it depends on your processor if you have one of the new Core ix CPU's it's best to go with 10.6.2 and above. I'd say go with 10.6.2 as people have had great success in being able to update it to 10.6.3 without any trouble. but do remember to delete sleepenabler.kext from System/Library/Extensions before you commit otherwise you will get a kernel panic. After you have updated to 10.6.3... Then after that go to http://www.kexts.com/view/318-sleepenabler...810.3.0%29.html and get the sleep enabler for 10.6.3 and install by dragging it onto KextHelper I personally use Hazards client -server 10.6.2 - you don't have to install the server components as they are useless to the every day user Hope this helps
yonyz
As always, I forgot to mention my PC specs. I'll add them to my original post. Also, how can I remove a kext if I get a kernel panic? Is there a way to boot OS X without its kexts, like Windows' Safe Mode? And about that Hazards release - shouldn't I just use the retail DVD? That's the one I was talking about, anyway. shoarthing
. . . And about that Hazards release - shouldn't I just use the retail DVD? That's the one I was talking about, anyway. . . retail = 10.6.0 & 10.6.3 onlyI've used both & prefer 10.6.3 simply because you're going there anyway, so why not go direct? yonyz
Good point. I'll get this one then. Thanks. Any word on disabling the aforementioned kext after installing the OS?
di9ital
Good point. I'll get this one then. Thanks. Any word on disabling the aforementioned kext after installing the OS? when booting use the boot flag -s then enter the first string it tells you to then enter sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions/KEXT.kext that will remove it
yonyz
Thanks di9ital, and thank you Ricksterm and shoarthing. I should have the image ready for burning by tomorrow's morning. Wish me luck.
yonyz
Di9ital, what do you mean by "enter first string it tells you"? What's a string? Also, I'm getting a kernel panic just booting the DVD with Chameleon v2.0 RC3. It's the SleepEnabler kext. What do I do?
