sanctified
Second os x installation (after wiping, by accident, my xp partiton). Everything works a little better. For starters my installation take and recognizes the whole drive now instead of just 6gb. The sound is fully recognized now and with the new maxxus anti-tpm I feel the system to be a little more responsive. but I have a question. With the new installation I lost my darwin promp. The system boots directly into OSX. My system: 1rst HD: 40gb 7200rpm Samsung (osx86 installation) 2nd HD: 200gb 7200rpm Maxtor (Storage, backups and user folder) MOBO and Chipset Intel 865G (I know, its old, but it works great) Pentium 4@3.2GHZ HT (Prescott, so its SSE3) (Unpatched CoreImage) 2 GB Ram pc 3200, corsair (4 sticks) Pioneer 107D DVD-R/RW (Recognized and working. Works perfectly with Toast 6.) Soundmax onboard audio (Recognized and working once I unpatched CI) ATI Radeon 9800 PRO@128mb (Recognized as a PCI card, but not working, just a s a VESA 2 compliant card, but it lets me run at native monitor display, 1280x1024) Printer HP Photosmart 7550 Recognized but the HP drivers are not working. Using the Deskjet 900 drivers to make it work. Works great but prints a little slow. If someone knows how to make it work with the hp drivers, please, let me know) The floppy drive, of course, its not recognized xD Accesories: 40GB external HD recognized but it doesnt seem to have the speed of an USB 2 device 128 MB Thumb Drive working Creative Zen Xtra NOT working Sony f828 8MP professional camera fully working (Via USB, great way to use my memory sticks since the Printer memory stick drive is not recognized) So those are my problems, if anyone knows how to: 1) Have back the darwin promp 2) Make the system to recognize my Zen Xtra 3) Have full USB 2.0 support Then I will be very grateful. Thanks in advance. If you have any questions of how I made something to work feel free to ask. hawkeye11
I am having problems with HP PSC 2510 as well. It will not even work with the 900 drivers. As far as your Creative Zen, there is a program call XNJB that will allow Creative and Dell DJ to work under OSX. The current version is not working on x86 but the author is willing to create a univesal binary but needs some assistance. Maybe some one here can help out. I am sure a lot people can use this program. www.wentnet.com Be sure to look in the forum there as I have started a thread. Hopefully someone will come up with a fix for the HP PSC drivers as well. The trick was opening the driver stup utility. Selecting your printer, left click and select get info and then Open with rosseta. Something like that. 39thRonin
So those are my problems, if anyone knows how to: 1) Have back the darwin promp In order to get the darwin (I am supposing you mean the darwin login screen), you need to go to: System Preferences/Security Under the security tab, check the box that says: Disable automatic login That will get your login screen back. Now in case you are talking about the initial darwin boot prompt (the command line prompt were you enter -v -x -s -f, etc. I'll have to get to you ;-) jbacko Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/2189-new-major-succes-and-a-question/#findComment-14300 Share on other sites
Kanji_Man
In order to access the darwin boot prompt (where you enter Graphics Mode, -v, platform, etc) simply hold down your CTRL key during boot. If you wish to permanantly change this behavior you need to edit the file /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist using a text editor (/Applications/TextEdit.app). This is a protected file though, so you'll need to make a copy of the file, edit the copy, then move your copy to replace the original and verify with your password. This topic is covered in the Tips & Tricks section of this site's wiki under the heading "Messing with the boot options" you might find a few other usefull things to mess with while you are there (like forcing 1280x1024x32) : http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Tips_And_Tricks I would also highly reccomend running the disk util and correcting permissions before rebooting any time you mess with protected files such as this. I hope this answers your question have a wonderful day.
