Eng.Ahmed
Well, about me, my problem isn't with the graphics, first I've used a retail DVD with Boot-123 CD & in the start of the installation it asked me to change MBR of the HDD to GUID which I can't do it because I've to repartition my hard disk, so I'll lose everything on it... 2nd, I've tried a copy called Snow OS X Universal 10.6 (432) GM v3.5, this version installed successfuly, but after first boot after the installation finish, when it was going to start up, it keeps giving me error while start up, & I still dunno why... 3rd, I said let's try which is in this post, so I've downloaded Snow Leopard 10.6.1-10.6.2 SSE2 SSE3 Intel AMD by Hazard, & installed it today & it's installed successfuly also but after the first restart after the installation it keeps telling me error in MBR... I really dunno what's the problem with the starting up with MBR, why should I move to use GUID, many people used the MBR type & worked with them!!!! Eng.Ahmed
after the second time of installing win 7, why didn't you try to install a boot loader using EasyBCD on windows, then you can choose to add the mac partition to your boot loader, did you try that? dastan
hiii again , and so sorry for not replying for so long ,(i've been busy doing my final exams ,senior year Dental college) so first of all Here is my detailed specification: HP dv6 2140ee Core i5 430m @2.26GHz Turbo to 2.56GHz nVidia G105M with 512MB RAM with CUDA Cores 320GB HDD Hitachi @7200RPM Intel PM55 chipset 3 GB RAM IDT Audio Broadcomm Wireless (not working ,just bluetooth works) .................................... HERE IS A DETAILED GUIDE : 1- I recovered to Windows 7 using original HP recovery (optional ). 2- Download and Burn HAZARD's Snow Leopard 10.6.1 ,10.6.2 Intel Amd . 3- Reboot , and then boot from Internal DVDROM drive (external USB drive doesn't work !) 4- before entering installation press F8 . 5- Type cpus=1 busratio=17 (only needed if you have core i3/i5/i7 CPUs , check here for busratios ) 5- let the loading finish ,then follow the instruction , format one drive to HFS+ ,its not Important if the disk is either MBR or GUID tested on both and both are ok) and the partition must be primary not logical 6- In customization menu select only ( Legacy Kernel 10.2.0 + Chameleon RC3 PCEFI 10.5 ) and NOTHING ELSE . 7- When the installation finished , reboot ,take the DVD out , and boot by using ( cpus=1 busratio=17 ) 8- Finish the installation wizard , you should be in your Desktop by now . 9- now , download Mac OSX 10.6.3 update dmg (it should be around 1.3GB) from apple . 10- download ##### . 11- navigate to your Snow leopards root / 12- delete the mach_kernel file . and keep that window open . 13- download Legacy Kernel 10.3 here 14- install it . 15- now there must be a new mach_kernel inside your SL root drive . 16- copy that new mach_kernel to your desktop ,and delete the one inside your root folder . (if the new mach_kernel named Legacy_kernel , rename it to mach_kernel) 17- so , now you must have ,no mach_kernel inside your SL root folder , a new mach_kernel on your desktop (10.3 ,around 7 MB) 18- now do this with caution , open the Mac osx 10.6.3 installation, and while it do the installation keep an eye on your SL root folder , near 3/4 of the installation a new mach_kernel will appears inside , delete it as fast as you can , and then replace it with the 10.3 that is on your desktop ) , you must do that replacement as fast as you can ,because near the end of the installation of 10.6.3 you'll get a kernel panic .and after you reboot ,the original apple kernel will not let you in again . (((( NOTE : DO THIS STEP IF ONLY YOU COULD NOT REPLACE THE KERNEL IN TIME BEFORE THE PANIC :: after the panic , reboot inside win7 , and install macdrive 8 , the using mac drive replace the new mach_kernel with the one inside your SL drive and then reboot and follow the following , you should be able to extrack mach_kernel from legacy_kernel 10.3 dmg by using 7-zip)))) 19- after the panic occurred , reboot using cpus=1 busratio=17 . 20- then repeat the 10.6.3 installation , but this time it should work without any problem . 21- after it finished DO NOT REBOOT. 22- open ##### . 23- Select ONLY , ##### for UnSupported CPU under the ##### + SystemUtilities (both) 24- let it finish , then reboot . and this time you only need to type busratio=17 and nothing else (you may add this to your com.apple.Boot.plist and make it like this arch=i386 GraphicsEnabler=Yes busratio=17) 25- and also you must boot with ( -pci0 ) for only just ONE time (it makes you Graphic card detect HDMI cable removal) now everything is working without any other extra kexts Graphics FULL with QE/CI Support Sound Working ( but menu bar volume controller doesn't work) WiFi not working , bluetooth working shutdown /reboot full working and I'm ready for any question . Also I've tried your disk utility but the professional one, I think it's better than the home edition one, but the strange somthing that I couldn't make a new partition using a free space to be taken from existing one!! By the way, I've got an idea but I don't know if it can solve my problem or not, if resized any partition to be less than it's original capacity, then I left the unlocated space as unpartitioned space, then partitioned it using the disk utility of mac installer, will it be a primary partition??!!!!! Eng.Ahmed
The last idea didn't work also, the mac installer couldn't locate a free space & partition it, & I tried to make a partition using the Partition Wizard & set it to primary, this option disappears after creating the partition, really I got stuck with windows 7, do you know if there's any disk utility can run from the DOS?? dastan
Hi dastan I need your help. Once I install os-x, i cannot get into win7 anymore. I get an error message... How can I fix this? thanks, otomat I dont know the exact solution for that problem because mine worked directly without anything ,but it maybe related to a problem in windows MBR , try below and see if it helps FIRST METHOD first Insert any Leopard or snow leopard distro DVD (ideneb ,iatkos, hazard no problem) and reboot and then boot from it -press F8 before entering installation -type -s (if immediately restarted ,try with -s cpus=1 busratio=17) -when the loading finished , type the following fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 flag 1 quit reboot *the 0 in rdisk0 is the number of your Hard Disk Device *the 1 in flag 1 is the number of your Windows partition now this should make the windows partition as active then place your windows 7 DVD inside and reboot from it from the 2nd window of the installation wizard select repair in the lower area follow the instruction and select Startup repair ( i don't exactly remember the terms ) after that you should be able to enter your windows 7 but not OSX (you don't see chameleon ) after that ReInsert any Leopard or snow leopard distro DVD (ideneb ,iatkos, hazard no problem) and reboot and then boot from it -press F8 before entering installation -type -s (if immediately restarted ,try with -s cpus=1 busratio=17) -when the loading finished , type the following fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 flag 3 quit reboot *the 0 in rdisk0 is the number of your Hard Disk Device *the 3 in flag 3 is the number of your OSX partition SECOND METHOD if not try to replace chameleon with PC EFI 10.5 here , I never tried that but i think it works ,because before ##### you should be able to enter win7 and OSX just fine (after installing PCEFI in HAZARD's distro) but after installing ##### this problem occurs Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/218373-solvedguide-problem-with-hp-dv6-core-i5/page/2/#findComment-1477341 Share on other sites
otomat
Thanks dastan. I'll give it a try. Currently I did not succeed with your detailed guide. First, i had to customize more stuff than what you wrote... Otherwise, the computer would keep rebooting. The second problem is that while I'm updating to 10.6.3 I cannot find new mach_kernel which is being written. I only found mach_kernel.orig and I don't know if you meant this one. Could it be a hidden file? How can I show those invisible files? I still didn't succeed installing osx and I also need to check if I can get win7 back... It is a bit frustrating but I don't give up. I hope that with your help, I'll make it happend. Thanks a lot!!! otomat the important thing is that you wont give up , mine took 2 weeks with at least 10 OSX and Windows format !!! and about the mach_kernel , its a visible file and named exactly mach_kernel , and if the 10.6.3 wont write the kernel ,you wont need to replace it as the 10.2 will let you in after the reboot,if not, before the installation of 10.6.3 try to directly delete the old one (10.2 that comes with the installation) and copy the new one(10.3) and be careful that the installation wont replace it ( the original apple kernel is about 17 MB while legacy is about 7MBs) and remember that each laptop has its unique method working for it . what are your specs ,it may be helpful if you post it . i try to help with the little things i know .
