JamesZero
I have a PCI M-Audio Audiophile 2496 sound card which I have put in my Snow Leopard machine. On the M-Audio website the drivers only go up to 10.5.8 (which I tried anyway and didn't work). Apparently they have no plans to make Snow Leopard drivers as all new Macs are PCI-Express. Does anyone know of anything that can be done to get this card installed? Are there any 3rd party drivers? Cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/217420-m-audio-audiophile-2496/ Share on other sites

ReggieX
Hy! Let me get it straight.. You installed a PCI- card on a Intel-based PC?? These cards were designed to be cross-platform. I originally used my Audiophile 2496 in a G4 Mac, and just installed it into my Shuttle PC Hackintosh, and it runs on both Mac OS X and Windows 7 with the right drivers. Isove
Hi guys I have M-Audio 2496 and i use before hacking on windows 7 Configuration was: m-audio 2496 - pass through Coaxial S/PDIF Output - cable - Logitech 5.1 Now Snow Leopard on pc: I try to put drivers from http://www.audio-evolution.com/drivers/ but i dont have a panel; no sound. All i got is in sound system preferences Envy24. I use Kmplayer on windows7 to get DTS sound. Under Mac os what player i should use to get pass through DTS sound ? I got sound only from ports R+L Still got problem with pass trough digital coaxial ... My system: P5Q SE 2 - motherboard 2,8 Quad Core 8 Ram Nvidia GTS 250 1gb OS: Snow Leopard System Software Overview: System Version: Mac OS X 10.6.4 (10F569) Kernel Version: Darwin 10.4.0 Secure Virtual Memory: Not Enabled 64-bit Kernel and Extensions: Yes Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/217420-m-audio-audiophile-2496/#findComment-1509692 Share on other sites
dakku
Can you please explain how you got the soundcard to work? since m-audio website says this Note: The M-Audio Delta Series and Revolution Series PCI cards are not compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. OS X 10.6 requires an Intel based processor, and all Intel based Mac's have PCI-Express slots and do not support M-Audio PCI cards. Also, is the Envy24 driver any good? The whole reason on getting this card would be sound quality and I have noticed you loose that after having 3rd party kexts or drivers. Tamriel
I try to put drivers from http://www.audio-evolution.com/drivers/ but i dont have a panel; no sound. All i got is in sound system preferences Envy24. Same for me. I have chosen ‘Envy24‘ as Sound-Output in the Sound Preferences and the crystal-clear sound comes out of the two cinch jacks. Therefore I am satisfied. However, I dont know how to use all the other features of the soundcard.
