Charlie97L
i built a hackintosh using the lifehacker guide. it's been a champ so far. i used teh GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard, and a support airport card. i also installed a Trendnet Ethernet card, which has not been used. I recently got some ethernet DAW controllers, and found that my ethernet card would not work. I'm not that familiar with the ins and outs of OSX can you not have an ethernet card and an airport card at the same time? the onboard ethernet on the mobo does not work. i swapped the card placement in the mobo and now the ethernet works and the airport does not. any tips on how i can get them both working? i'm using the only 2 pci slots available. thanks! charlie Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/215154-both-ethernet-and-airport-at-the-same-time/ Share on other sites

I set them up with different private addresses (non routeable 192.168.x.x range(\). I never used the mac as a router for wireless and hard wire at the same time. I have the same mobo, and the built in ether works fine. yeah, had to set it up using network settings - have not done the bonhour stuff. I hope this helps. Charlie97L
you don't need them both, might just stop with one Actually I do need them both. Ethernet for my controllers via a switch, and airport for internet. inimicus
Are you saying that the position of the cards affect them actually FUNCTIONING (i.e., being recognized, etc)? If so, I haven't got a clue. If you mean you can't seem to have ethernet and airport work (connect with devices) simultaneously, then you may wanna try different subnets as mentioned above. If it's not essential that the two communicate with each other (ethernet devices exposed over AirPort and vice versa), then that would be the first thing to try. Such as: Airport 10.0.x.x / Ethernet 192.168.x.x or Airport 192.168.1.x / Ethernet 192.168.2.x or Airport 10.0.1.x / Ethernet 10.0.2.x (All being dependent on your switch/DHCP configuration) You may also need to experiment with Internet Connection Sharing (Sharing Pref Pane) and/or Aggregate Devices (Network Pref Pane, plus button). Google for details. Also, my friend has your board and on-board ethernet works (albeit in 10.5) with RealtekR1000.kext. Not sure if you've tried that yet.
