profusion
Hi all, I have dell inspiron 1720 with 2 partitions on my sata HDD. I have instalation of Win 7 with BIOS set to ATA. I have change it to AHCI but Win7 than broke so I revert it. Is there a way installing OSX to the other partition for dual-booting without loosing this Win7 installed? If yes I will appreciate any guide links if you can point me to! an1r0n
I would recomend AHCI but Kalyway 10.5.2 install can be installed even when in ATA mode, just make sure that you have SATA DVD/CD which I think your laptop has... ChristoA
Sorry I'm late to the party... You can enable AHCI in Windows through the registry, reboot, verify the setting took, and then change the BIOS to AHCI: 1) Exit all Windows-based programs. 2) Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. 3) If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue. 4) Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci 5) In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify. 6) In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK. 7) On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor. 8) Reboot back into Windows 9) Reboot, and enter the BIOS 10) Change the drive setting from IDE/ATA to AHCI Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/215115-win7-installed-in-ata-mode-wanting-osx/#findComment-1445338 Share on other sites
