trav1085
I am wondering if I got this right finally: 1. I download the JaS 10.4.6 ISO from demonoid (done) 2. I burn it to a DVD 3. I use Gparted Live CD to format my hard drive 4. I create a 20 gig NTFS partition (/dev/hdc1) 5. I install Windows XP on it 6. I go back to Gparted and create a unformatted space that is 20 gigs (/dev/hdc2) 7. I boot with the DVD in my drive 8. I use Disk Utility to format my unformatted partition to HFS+ 9. I install Mac OS X 10. I find drivers and anything else I need with the help of the WIKI and FORUMS Question: If I use Disk Utility to format my unformatted partition to HFS+, will it leave the rest of my drive intact? Someone said that it will format my drive? Is this true, or does it just format the patition to HFS+ -Thanks for your Help! belgrano
Do not format it or try to change partitions! Use erase as Mac OS extended from Disk Utility. (I think this is the name...) Other than that your plan looks fine... Of course, you can merge steps 4 and 6 (that is create both partitions, leave the one for OS X unformated). trav1085
OH! Erase as Mac OS extended is what to do! I lost my entire hard drive and had to re download the img from demonoid that took 2 days because I selected to format the disk as HFS+.! Stupid me! I should merge steps 4 and 6 together... Thanks for the help (PS: It is Disk Utility) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/21347-native-install-questions/#findComment-140944 Share on other sites

Aedilus
I got to the loadup screen too, but it stops and gives me a circle with a slash through it. I tried repairing the disk. It did some things when I repaired the disk permissions, but it didn't help it load off the hard drive.
