I installed using the method above, was able to boot and install, when I tried to boot from the new installation drive with the command busratio=25 I got an error with audio and firewire and everything froze. Can anybody give me their spec for ##### and further fixes.

I was able to boot successfully in safe mode. The system recognizes 6 core I'm running with busratio=27 and overclocked speed 4.32GHz with no problem. The only thing is that is running in 32-bit mode. How do I force 64-bit mode?

 • 3 weeks later...

Got 980x working using a different method, that uses standard kernel (10.4).

I updated to 10.6.4 (beta release - combo updater),

Upgraded the bootloader to Chameleon RC5

Patch DSDT to see 12 cores

Delete SleepEnabler and APPLEINTELCPU kext

Install ElliotRTC.kext

Change busratio=25

Works like a dream, the system was configured initially using DigitalDreamers tutorial for GA-EX58-UD5.

Geekbench 64bit ~ 16500.

Hi,

I extracted the attached DSDT using 64bit Ubuntu 10.04 . My config was:

i7-980x

GA-EX58-UD5 rev1.0

BIOS 12

The raw DSDT is i7-980x-unedited-from64bUBT1004-dsdt.aml

I compile it via DSDTSE 1.4.3 and fixed a couple of compile errors.

i7-980x-postDSDTSE-dsdt.*

No other hand edits were made. Only the automated optimization done by DSDTSE.

Ideally I would like to see d00d's DSDT optimizations applied to this DSDT

What is ElliotRTC.kext and were did you get it? I have the problem were the OS time is running WAY to fast. Will this fix that?

ElliottForceLegacyRTC.kext

this file stopped my CMOS from being reset, i'm not sure if it will help your problem. do you have similar hardware to me?

also, have you patched DSDT?

this DSDT file is from GA-EX58-UD4P. has been modified for 980x

I don't see any files attached to your post. I'm using a GA-EX58-UD5.

Are you overclocking at all? If I don't overclock at all my OS Time seems to track fine. My problem is that the OS isn't seeing the overclocking changes I'm making in the BIOS and therefor a second is not 1 second long.

Please post your DSDT ... thanks

Are you using the RC5 chameleon bootloader? im sure this will fix your problem. I'll try reposting DSDT file now.

I'm overclocked @ 4.33GHz (166x26). system is very stable with everything settled.

Which RC5 are you using? Can you post a link? I'm using AnVAL's build dated 06-04-2010. I believe this is the most current RC5pre build. (found here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...mp;mode=linear)

AnVal's RC5 seem to understand the 980x memory controller. Most of the other RC5pre builds have complained about an unidentified memory controller.

When you post your DSDT just zip up your entire /Extras folder and post that. Then I can see your apple plist, smbio file and which Extensions your using.
