I am using the Biostar G41-M7. I cant boot the SL DVD using empireEFI to install it. It keeps getting stuck here or at ACPI: System State while trying to install or boot a partition that already has SL installed. Any suggestions?

Just started playing with a G41M7 that I got as a combo @ Fry's for $28 (and that included a E3300). Couldn't get Chameleon to see an external DVD and I don't have a SATA one, so on a lark I tried booting an install from my Acer Revo (using 1.0.8.5R2 regular CD) and whaddya know - it booted fine.

Re-ran myHack and it now boots from the HD without problems. However, graphics won't work (it's a X4500 chipset and if you search there's a lot of info on it) and no audio so far, but the LAN works fine.

Bottom line - you might have to take the VMWare route and copy an image to the hard drive to get this board to work.

I found a how to for the G31-M7 motherboard below where he mentions two bios changes. I made the first of the two and it fixed the problem.

1.Disable EHCI (set it to “disabled” its right down under USB Legacy support)

I got the same deal from Frys myself. I was able to install Snow Leopard 10.6.3 last night. I am using a Nvidia 8400 for video, Netgear WG111 and external USB sound (I was unable to the the onboard sound to work)

I was able to get snow leopard with sound and networking with an nvidia card installed on the G41-M7 using Kakewalk USB method and removing the dsdt.aml from /extras/ (i chose the gigabyte G41 based board). As mentioned above disable EHCI. Procede with the installation.

After it installs it will kernel panic. Load the drive with another OSX install and remove the dsdt.aml from /extras/ like previously. Start the drive on the G41-M7 and it should boot into the desktop. In my case the nvidia card was immediately detected. To get networking working, go into /System/Library/Extensions/ and trash RealtekR1000SL.kext. Use kext helper and install the attached realtek driver. To get sound working use VoodooHDA from http://code.google.com/p/voodoohda/ and install with kext helper. I then installed EvOReboot using kext helper from http://www.osx86.es/?p=749. Update to 10.6.3. Hopefully everything should be working.

I was able to get Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.3 to work great on this motherboard, the only issue I had was getting the built in LAN card to work, and still haven't figured it out.

Have any of you got your built-in Ethernet LAN card to work...?

The solution for RTL 8101E PCI E LAN card is below:

This is the Mac OS X 10.6 driver for Realtek 8169S(SB)/8168(B/C/CP/D/E/F)/8101E/8102E/8103E/8105E. The system will be rebooted after the driver is installed, so please close all the other applications before installing the driver. After the system is rebooted, please follow the following steps to configure the network:

1. Select the "System Preference" from the system menu.

2. Select and launch the "Network" item in the "System Preference" folder.

3. From the "Configure" list, select the adapter to be configured.

4. Configure the settings.

5. Click the "Save" button.

Then you can connect to the Ethernet.......

NOTE: This driver is for Mac OS X 10.6 on the Intel-based Mac.
